I spent 6 hours on a Boxster that was in a shocking state earlier in week, but then I do clay bar'ing and machine polishing I'm that much of a nerd.

Find it good for the soul

I think it is worth it as long as you don't go to extremes.

My car gets a machine polish once a year to get rid of swirls. It gets washed and waxed sometimes weekly sometimes even monthly. But it gets used properly, taken on track rain or shine and enjoyed.

But I'm no hardcore detailer.

I do take pride in cleaning my car properly, if its your daily driver your work doesn't seem to last long, especially with the wet weather lately.

I think hardcore detailing is mostly for show cars or ones that are kept in garages for sunny dry days.

Takes me about 3 hours every week to wash the car ( 2 bucket method ) dry with a chemical guy wooley mammoth towel including inside door cards plus underneath bonnet then spray with a detailer then finish off doing tyres the wife calls me sad but I think it just chills me out from doing my weekly job

a 'quick wash' for me takes at least 90 minutes to 2 hours! only just got my LFR so will be getting the full works this weekend starting friday afternoon and hopefully be finished by sunday night with no stopping! get every nook and cranny cleaned and gleaming then its easier to keep on top of it :D
