But it's normal for some cars to put out more power than the standard figure, the figure SEAT announce is a minimum really.

But figures from European and UK forums have continually shown that the TFSI, whilst officially rated at 185 HP, was never lower than 196 HP. Of course these figures are rolling road estimates however it is strange that not a single result has come in at ~185-190.

It always seemed strange that SEAT would actually spend money DE-tuning an engine ......

VAG have always underestimated their bhp. Any word on the the accuracy of the output of the 170tdi in the fr?

did they rr it with 93 octane ? thats the shittest fuel they are proven to run on so I'd assume, now correct me here, that running better fuel will have a knock on effect with hp. oh and then theres always the power RR fixing.

why would they run it with 93 octane?
You cant get that in this country.

The thing is is that it doesnt really matter if the RR is inacurate as the results show that the Power matches that of the 197bhp MkV GTi

no im saying that the RR road was done in the UK so they would of ran 95 or more.

Im also on a US forums where most people with the 2.0Tfsi engine seem to run 91

This would be fine except that most Mk5 GTI's dyno at more than 197bhp (looking at Revo's site - 213bhp was their 197bhp car)

You need to calm down, and do some sensible logging of boost on both a 185bhp & a 197bhp car.
They will be different

True, but my original post was just showing two plots, one a MKV GTI and the other a TFSI Sport. They showed similar max. output and similar traces (although the GTi holds its output better) from the same rolling road. My conclusion is that, in this instance, the engines are tuned to a similar degree.

Remember a few weeks ago Dan's TFSi was RR'd at around 205.

I would love to see the ECU map data dumped and compared in real world terms but to date no-one has access to someone that can do this. Perhaps we can prod someone?

hmmm... here's what i know.. i have a friend who has a golf V gti... his engine code is BWA, same as my 185 tfsi. we had a race and we agreed to change gears at 6500rpm, the result was we were exactly the same.. honestly. if there are very little differences in different tests around the world.. i really think it's because of different fuel types, different outside temperatures, different tyres and roads even, and maybe even because the gti has slightly larger holes in the front spoiler and more air goes through the same intercooler... they took out the tfsi not because it's 15 bhp less than the fr.. it's because it's the same bloody car :p and they actually didn't take it out, they just fitted it with different rims, spoilers ans some badges and quoted the real 200ps :)

Maybe if someone can log on a std mk5 gti & a std MK2 Leon:

Requested & Delivered boost, max air flow, requested torque we can tidy it up

no point at all in measuring side by side performance, the cars are a different shape & weight

engine is exacty the same, transmision, chassis etc... one thing for shure, chipped mk5 gti and chipped mk2 leon tfsi are the same.

even racing side by side wouldnt have thought there would be a difference....need a lot more than 12bhp to make a difference racing someone. As mentioned both cars would need to be same weight, drag etc to make a true comparison

All i know is mine feels a darn sight quicker, more responsive and smoother than my brothers 180bhp '54' Audi TT Quattro in the real world.
