Gap between the Ashtray and stoarage area...

Hey guys,

I've been a bit of a pillock, I had parked up but couldn't be bothered squeezing my ipod into the glovebox so I sat it in the gap between ashtray and storage area, I forgot about the ipod for a few days but when I came to use it I noticed it had fully fallen through the gap, but I have no idea how I can get to it and I don't really want to start pulling pieces of fascia off in hope of getting the lost ipod! I have searched through the forums but unforunately no one else has been stupid enough to also post something through this gap!

I think I know which gap you're on about.

Just take off all the trimming, and then the climatecontol dispaly unit thing, and the ash tray, then you can get in there.

I 'posted' some wires through ages ago and let go of the end by accident and so lost them through there!

The ashtray may be removed with a single screw holding the metal upper plate to the centre console.. The fascia piece will come out without too much trouble once the radio has been removed - but to get the whole centre console out requires removing glovebox and lower dash pieces first. This isn't too big a task but will take longer.. I intend to make a picture-guide for it all as I stripped out the carpets a couple weeks ago to dry them and removed all of it!

Cheers for the replies guys, I was looking to do this at some point anyway I was i wanted a more permenant solution to where my iPod sits!
