My missus's late dad worked in the brewery and he told me to ignore dates on beer, and just look for the normal whoosing noise as you opened it. If it did not happen toss it, otherwise it should be ok as he said how it was stored (cool area) was more important, and following his advice I have drank beer well passed it's date and it was fine, and so was I.
