This doesnt look right and i think is the cause of my lever springing back to the centre when in 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th (it still stays in gear and drives but looks like its in neutral)

Isn't there a piece missing off that - nylon- clips either side of the counterweight opposite the front to back linkage point?

Funny, I was staring at your linkage yesterday, Mike.

I think it's springing on the gearlever than 'centres' the lever to the middle.

But from neutral when you push left and then up it normally stays in the top left corner doesnt it???

If you compare pic in my post and this pic..

Where the upper arrow points the end of the clip looks different and as if it wouldnt allow the movement mine has..

This bit is trick to put into words...

The lower arrow points to the oem linkage (front - back). Where the plastic ball from the side - side Linkage goes (where arrow points) there is play because the plastic nob has worn.. It looks like this is allowing the extra play in the gear lever when in 1st 2nd 5th and 6th

Yes, I see what you mean.

The plastic 'protusion' should be 'captive' in the other section....

Exactly... The pic above seams like it would solve it..

when accelerating hard on the motorway in 4th, 5th is frequently getting impossible to get in causing me to have to sow down again and back to 4th...
I'm not sure if my worn clutch could also be to blame...?
