Hi,
I just replaced the diff bearing on my Seat Ibiza (2007 1.9 TDi - JDA gearbox).

I now have a problem in first gear. I t makes a grinding sound which sounds to me like gear teeth touching.
If I pull the gear lever back slightly, the noise goes away. All gears work.

I know I have to strip it again, but can't think what I did wrong. The gear shafts were not disassembled, so they are OK.

Any thoughts??

I don't think so.

If I follow the procedure to set the gear knob position, the gear selector goes all the way to the stop in each gear. It's at that point the gear to gear contact occurs.

I can fiddle with the adjustment to prevent it going all the way to the stop, but this can't be correct..

Weather permitting, the box is coming out tomorrow. If I find anything I'll post it.
