Dug this up from something i posted a while back;
I think this is roughly right for a evo, weighing approx 1.4t on road tyres.
300atw ~ 110mph approx 390fwhp
320atw ~ 112mph approx 410fwhp
350atw ~ 116mph approx 450fwhp
380atw ~ 120mph approx 490fwhp

my guesstimates for a ibiza ,weighing approx 1.2t on road tyres.

275atw ~ 110mph approx 325fwhp
300atw ~ 114mph approx 350fwhp
320atw ~ 116mph approx 380fwhp
350atw ~ 120mph approx 410fwhp
380atw ~ 124mph approx 440fwhp

What happened to your motor hooch?
St8ballin you should be trapping around 118mph.

Dunstabubble
it may have something to do with my driving style lol
hence now building a show car not a road/track car

ryan, when you say “what happened to your motor?” do you mean what happened to my engine or car?
engine is being used in a ibiza with a gt30 over the gearbox and the car is being used as a shed :)

Hello all, did a compression test before I took the engine because I had really high oil consumption and got the following:
11,11,11,10. (bar) 1-4

And also my intake mani was covered in oil and im running open breathers!
Defo not the turbo as all intercooler pipes and turbo clean and dry...

So looks like the engines got to come apart?

The guy i got the engine from obviously hasnt re-built it properly... hmm maybe thats y im low on power also?!

Thanks

Those compression figures look good to me. Built head?

Hi PhilW, yep built head and block
Spec:
81.5mm JE pistons
THS Rods
Supertech Valves - oem springs and retainers
ACL big end bearings
AEB head port and polished.

I am losing so much oil and no smoke out the exhaust at all!

Taking the block to JNL racing tomorrow to open it up, check it and possibly fit some cams whilst its open.

I've been told you can use the n/a 1.8 cams?

Any other good alternatives?

GT3071R going on the weekend!
So now I need a new turbo.... suggestions please!

Its between owens gt3076r for approx £1100, 4 month old gt35r (mates turbo) 0.82a/r £700, or possible a borg warner s-series turbo with t3 flange like a s362 or smaller.

I know ideally its the 76r but I cant stop thinking about the 35! If I had stand alone I would put it on and see how it feels then decide, even tho its laggy the air flow on spool up should get me moving right?!

Thanks!

wow a gt35 0.82 on a 1.8l! Good luck with that mate.Even a gt3076 is a little big.I'd stick with a gt3071r with the right spec it will make 450bhp.

hold on.....

have we just found someone worse than me for changing set ups ?? lol lol

Just never happy!

I was with jp all day stripping the engine and wow it was bad!

Piston rings never bedded in, the walls were glazed bad
Valve guides
Valve seats
Big end bearings
and alot of metal particals in the sump!
Head was a diy porting job and not good.

I couldnt believe I could shake the pistons side to side by hand with not alot of force, so needs reboring etc again.

Getting some cams in there whilst its all opened and getting the head ported and polished properly to get the max I can so it doesnt need to be opened again and a mains bearing girdle kit, so I know things are reliable.

Getting the owens 3076r :) no more changing my mind!

I like to dream
I would keep the 71r but i have the 0.63 housing, to get the 0.82 its £280! So I'd rather sell this & get something abit bigger and not max the turbo.

Compressor housing looks a bit small for a garrett gt3076 caney?
Trying a development hybrid for mine shortly should be in the 450-500bhp area
