How easy is it to replace a head gasket? It's a 2007 pd130 seat Ibiza that's going to be getting a high lift cam fitted and then remapped to 300+bhp, the current head gasket isn't leaking but it's on 102k miles so I'm thinking it would be good to do before the remap. My understanding is as long as the gasket isn't leaking (mine isn't) then the head doesn't need to be skimmed? So it should just be head off, old gasket off, new gasket on, head back on along with new head bolts etc....It's just a preventative maintenance I'm thinking could be worth doing, no point doing all this work just for the head gasket to go at any time

Yeah I wasn't sure whether it'd be a case of if it ain't broke etc...I know a few people running stock lower end at over 330bhp but I have considered getting forged rods as its my daily, do you know roughly how much it would be to get them fitted?
