not as simple as that i`m afraid the guy who does this is away till october

old unit needs to come out.

new one in. CP removed. unit goes to poland for 2 weeks install it back then code it to the car or they can do that if you do a admap from vcds first.

once cp is removed you can never go back to a "virgin unit" without paying for the licensing fees again as your car loses its fec codes and that would only be a mib1

you only need to use the quadlock replacement cable and new usb port the green and yellow connector is not needed.

If i understand correctly, you reused the cable from the ami media in and did not use the one that came with the usb/aux connector?
Did you change the green hsd connector on the USB plug. Because you need the 5v connection, no?

yes only green cable from quad lock needs replacement that same cable has a 2 pin plug to power the usb.

although i am going to move the usb port to the console like this so will use the spare cable i have as the original location in glovebox is awkward and i don`t like the door mechanism

I wanted to do that also, but personally i prefer running a cable trough the dash and installing a brodit clip...i think
Did you code the usb/aux ?
Is this correct? Byte 19 activate bit 6&7 or text coding byte 19 to ‘full’

i prefer the factory look myself.

no not sorted yet all guys to code this are a long way from me.
i should have been clearer with the guy who modified the mib as it was supposed to be plug n play.

you can code for usb although it is probably already done since mib2 never came with Ami port.
i wonder if you can have ami port and usb at the same time.

I have been in touch with the polish guy.
He wants either 300 euro or 500 euro + vat at 21% + 40 euro postage .... depending on the unit i send him.
He also stated the screen has to be coded to the unit.
Also i would need a new screen as my 5.8 screen cannot be used.
Sounds like a lot of dosh for upgrading from mib1 to mib2.

Yes screen needs to be changed all parts can be purchased cheaply.

APG wanted 500 euro + 100 euro to convert the Audi box for Seat use.
So £850 and then new screen and 40 euro courier.
Still trying to get the box and screen you said for £150, he does not want to post it though.
What would i gain with the £150 setup over what i have now ?

forget them over priced.

the guy i used was 200 euro including the postage back.
gain is bigger screen faster unit android auto better resolution lifetime maps for free. for me it was a no brainer.

£700 800 or 1300 these retrofit guys charge is a joke though. £700 maybe if they are supplying the kit and a screen but most don`t

harman unit is only needed if you are going to do the cockpit upgrade or need wifi and it plays dvds.
personally i did not see the point.

yeah will be another week though he`s away. wait on buying anything till then.
yep only need the brain bit modded not sure why they told you you need to send that. without the ability to upgrade firmware past 02xx it is probably pointless to bother with the expensive 8" unit.

just look for 5qa035858 and 5f0919604 either as a set or individual

Are you sure the Audi units on eBay were MIB2 High? The ones I saw were MIB1 High although it wasn't mentioned by the seller.

all i know is what i have already said. the only requirement is cp removal otherwise errors will show on the gateway.
if i knew the process i would be doing this myself
