I appear to have an insect inside the nearside headlight assembly. I thought these were sealed units. Can anyone advise me whether this is so and if not how I can get rid of the intruder.

Try getting a small can of air blower. [Poundland or online] and blowing it out or in somewhere it cannot be seen. They all have an air vent somewhere on them despite being 'sealed' so got in via that I suspect.

On the back of the headlamp there is usually a small rubber or plastic elbow breather which the little devil will have climbed in! You could try a section of thin plastic tubing attached to a vacuum cleaner hose to get him out, usually works.

Assuming you mean LED headlights...I didn't know they had a small hole at the back, but then that kinda explains how the condensation appears, then disappear.. etc...
