Cheers for the advice. Is the range controller this one under each of the lights? Or the main one at the side of the glovebox?

So I've gone into vcds and had great fun (you can remote control the headlights!). So the right hand light I can make go up, down, left and right! But the left hand light shows communication errors. From the above does that suggest the left hand power module may have blown up? Apparently according to the HUD, AFS has been disabled.

I'm a bit fuzzy cause I ended up going into loads of screens. But it showed 4 boxes marked "load" it was blank for both left hand boxes and right showed something like 46 54. If I tried to send anything to the left headlight it just came up with a message saying it wasn't coded.

AFS CONTROL UNIT J745
To access the diagnosis of the AFS control
unit J745, it is necessary to select the address
word 55 whether using the Guided fault finding,
Guided functions or Self diagnosis option. The
most important operations are shown below:
SELF DIAGNOSIS
DIAGNOSABLE ELECTRICAL
COMPONENTS
Using the option, “Electrical components
for automatic headlight reach adjustment”
the following components governed by the AFS
control unit J745 can be checked individually:
– Level sensor G76/G78.
– Headlights reach adjustment motors
V48/V49.
– Dynamic curve lighting servomotors
V318/V319.
– Orientation module position sensors

Well, this cost me a leg n an arm to fix. Can't get a good picture of it, but the power unit literally had the soldered legs corroded together from the water ingress. They are >£300 a piece. Then had to have a brand new headlight as the seals were gone on the old one and water would just leak back in again. There goes another £570. But all seems to be well again and AFS / autolevelling confirmed as working. Cheers for the advice and diagrams.
