HELP...Folding Mirror

Went out to the car ('07 FR TDI) this morning, put the key in the ignition but only my near side mirror unfolded, off side mirror has decided not to play ball.

Now ive also tried using the knob in the car but this doesn't seem to work either.

Does anyone know how i can sort this? Has anyone suffered the same issye?

Any help would be great.

I've never had the problem but am sure I've seen on here before that its just sticking. Try and manually turn them out to see if that works first.

This happens to my Passenger one now too for some reason even with the knob turned, Drivers moves properly and straight away but passenger nothing at all. Takes a few turns up and down for the passenger one to move..

Any ideas?

Well after leaving well alone (as i couldn't be bothered looking at it) my mirror is now playing ball. It seems as though the very heavy rainfall today effected it, now the rain has stopped and all is good again.

Going to oil/grease my mirrors at some point this week as lost abit of faith in them - Can someone advise how they go about oiling/greasing their mirrors?

Remove the mirror cap and spray with WD40 did the trick for me when it was cracky the first time I had the car

Cheers mate. I have heard the caps are a royal pain to take off/put back on - Is this the case?

No they are a piece of cake mate, use an old credit card and work your way from the top on the inside and all the way round. No more than 10mins

If its stuck in the future, instead of trying to use the knob to unfold the mirrors its much easier to use VCDS

Its a software program that works wih a VAGCOM cable and connects to your ECU via OBD port
