I have owned my 04 LCR for just over a year now and had kept it standard apart from a K&N 57i induction kit, it has covered 34k problem free miles. I spotted a tuning company advertising custom remaps for my car to take it up to around 270bhp and decided to go for it, and booked it in.
When i got the car there the tuner plugged his machine into my car to download the standard map and then proceeded to do a power run as a standard car.
When he did the run the car would only produce 130 bhp and wouldn't boost up, but the car had been pulling like a train on the way there and the bonnet hadn't even been up.
The tuner disconnected various sensors etc to try to find the problem but it still wouldn't boost up. We then took it out on the road to see if it was a case of the car being on the rolling road upsetting something, but it was now as flat as a pancake and wouldn't rev past 5500 rpm. Everyone was mystified by it so they called an expert in from the Audi garage with the vagcom software, but this turned up no fault codes and even the expert was baffled by it.
The next thing we tried was to upload a modified map to see if that solved it but it still ran the same. In the end the tuner had to admit defeat and told me to take it into Seat to find out whats wrong. I took it my local tuner who specialises in VAG remaps and is a Revo dealer where it has now been for the last week and they too are mystifed by it.
As you can imagine i'm well pissed off, my car went in with 225bhp and came out with 130bhp, it had previously had no problems whatsoever and now i've had no car at all for the last week while the experts are scratching their heads.
What makes it worse is the warranty ran out the day before so i'm looking like being well out of pocket, more than that though i just want my motor back! I haven't named the tuning company yet as if it isnt their fault i dont want to give them bad publicity, but i feel that when i took my car in it was as excellent as ever, and when it came out it was running crap and looking like its gonna cost me a fortune in investigative work alone.
The only thing that happened between it running properly and going wrong is the downloading machine being plugged into my serial port so i feel it would have to be a freak situation for the two not to be connected. All the sensors on the engine have been checked and they're fine, there are no air leaks and its not the turbo. Does anyone know of this happening to anyone else???
Any help much appreciated!!!
