Hello and welcome :)

Hopefully you find this forum useful! Any questions, just ask.

What are you driving?

Driving a mkVI golf 2.0 tdi at the moment, my next buy (imminently) is going to be a cupra 280 dsg.

Getting my bearings still here so dont know where to post yet but i am looking to probably quite quickly get a remap etc. My question is probably quite simple yet probably a minefield of opposing opinions,

where best to go for a remap? Also any other recommended mods?

Where abouts are you based?

The Cupra 280 is a great car, @Damo H used to have the ST version, and done visual mods to his, like a side stripes, front lip wrapped, TRC front splitter, and a new BCS exhaust.
The if you check out @theoldboy beast of a car, he has gone full REVO stage 3 and pushing over 500bhp. He has a lot of mods on his car for use for every day driving and track days. He spends a lot of time researching and testing the rights parts for him and his car.

I think there's a lot to be said with regards to doing your research into what remap manufacturer you want to go with. I personally went with Racingline with my last Cupra, and my current one. @Deano j1971 is running REVO stage 1 and has the DSG map too. @Damo H is also running Racingline OEM+ stage 1 with the DSG map.

There are other tuners such as Unicorn and APR that others have used too.

One of the most popular mods is probably the dogbone mount insert for the Cupras. I cuts down wheel hop immensely and the feel of the car is greatly improved. There are a whole list of mods that people usually consider, but budget and priority come into play. Are you wanting performance or visual mods to start with?

Based in north west hampshire,

Regarding what i am looking to do i am not looking to do any track day stuff but was at the very least going to get a stage 1 remap.

As someone with far more experience with them than myself is there anything else you would recommend, i am not looking to do anything too drastic to it but maybe something which will just sit alongside the remap and compliment it if you see where i am coming from.

Regarding asthetics, i like the car as a looker so not in a hurry to mod the exterior but never say never.

I would however be interested in other mechanical mods that others may well recommend

Car Length In Front
@paddy6789 has said it all really.

I know you said you like the looks of the car, but there is nothing like refining it. Like my Stage 1 OEM+ software, I like the OEM+ when it comes to the look of the car too. So subtle mods to enhance its looks. So front splitter, side skirts and diffuser. Not much else needed really sort from maybe lowering and spacers.

Well I can highly recommend Progressive Parts as a source for any parts you need; performance or stock. I use them and won't take my car anywhere else, other than Racingline themselves. Great bunch of guys.

You'll notice a huge difference from going to stage one. As Damo mentioned in another post somewhere, he almost felt like he had to learn how to drive the car again. I'm sure everyone can vouch for that.

For the performance mods, I'd reiterate the dog bone mount insert. You can pick one up between £35-60 depending on brand, just check which version you need before hand. Tyres make a huge difference and the most popular tyres to go for are the Michelin PS4S's. A bit pricey but these tyres combined with the Dogbone mount insert will give you so much grip and will almost eradicate the wheel hop issue these cars have. After this, you'll probably want stage one remap and look for a decent air intake of sorts. Whether it's a full induction kit or just a panel filter upgrade and a new uprated intake hose.

For visual mod, the front splitter is probably the most common. There's a few to choose from; Reiger, Maxton or TRC are the most common. All similar prices and they really transform the look of the front of the car. Usually wrapping the very bottom of the front lip under the grille is good too. Makes the car look meaner and its between £30-50 to do from a wrapping specialist unless you feeling brave enough to give it ago.

Wrapping the front and rear badges also seems to be a popular visual mod. Only at the cost of a precut stencil you can get off eBay, or a wrapping specialist.

If your car doesn't already have side skirts, these are also popular to add. Maxton or the genuine SEAT Aero ones are most common.

Finally, I'd say the rear diffuser is another common visual mod. Reiger or Maxton are probably the best choices.

It's your car, so these are just reference points. Take a look around the forum, look at some of the ride build threads to see how others are modding their cars. If you've any questions, just ask and you'll no doubt get the answers you're after.

But more importantly, pictures! We need pictures of your new beast!
