Im having a few issues with this. I havent started fitting them yet but I know what to do with the wiring etc, but its the bulbs.

I got the H4 bulbs for my 1.4 and they have 2 bulbs, a long one and a short one, Im guessing they have built in sidelights.

You can see the bulb on there, it has a ceramic tube on it and a metal cover bit. Should the sidelight bulbs be on the inside or outside? The ceramic tube is meant to be on the right.

Also how will I get the small block thing that the original halogen bulb pushes into out from behind the cover that clips on the back?

Any help would be greatful.

Haha. I was just about to start a thread on fitting the HID's. You say you know what to do with the wire?? Could you please tell me lol. Iv got 2 wites on my HID's. Not sure where they go?

The little bulb on your H4 looks like a side light to me. Have you checked if the main bulb and side bulb fit in the right slots on your headlight?

h4's are dual filament bulbs, one will be main beam and one will be dipped.

Well mine maybe slightly different to yours but I'm guessing it will be similar. Can you post a picture of the wiring and I can help.

The bulb on the side wont go into where the sidelight bulbs currently are as its directly in the middle. I may have to put them to the outside if the current sidelight gets in the way.

The site that i posted in the other thread. They are for H1 Bulbs though.

What do your look like? (the wires)

I have loads of wires on mine :headhurt: with them being a H4 kit. I have a black 3 prong connector, which plugs into the where the halogen bulbs usually are. Then theres a wire that goes to the ballast, and two seperate wires that plug into the ones that are coming from the ballast.

Does it matter where the smaller bulbs go?? Both to the inside or outside??

I need to figure out how to get the block out that the normal halogen bulbs plug into.

Right looking at that diagram, the 2 wires i originally posted are the 12v live and an earth (i think??) coming out of the ballast. The other end (of the 2 wires i posted) goes to a connector that plugs into the ballast unit.

So where do i plug them in?

Bump.
Anyone? Do i need to cut the original live wire to the headlight and connect it to the HIDs?

Come on i know other people have fitted HID's to their cupra's

I dont have to go cutting any wires to fit mine, the wires from the hids has a black block that plugs into where you would put a normal halogen bulb.

I just need to figure out how you get the block out from behind the cover as the connector on the hids is on the engine side of the rubber grommet.

But I cant do it until it stops raining. :banned:

Right. Iv fitted them. I must admit they look awsome. And they reflect everything, from lamposts to cones, to crisp packets on the road. Absolutely love them.
Took abit longer than i should have but my cousin managed to push the side light into the headlight so had to take that out the whole headlight.

Heres some pics.
First my rain protection, no rain can stop me lol.

After looking at those pictures I so cant wait to get mine fitted, they look amazing!!

Why did you take the headlight out?? Just out of curiousity. What did you do about the sidelights?? New bulbs??

Think I will take some before and after pics and post them up when I get mine fitted.

I bought some new side lights. Abit pricey at £5.99 each but i reckon well worth it. Have a look on the other thread as Travis posted a link to the site.

Had to take the headlight out as the side light bulb fell into the headlight

Yeh i should have taken the before and after pics but you can see the blatent difference once fitted. I put the high beam on and it looked crap compared to the HID's.

Also can you post some pics of where you mount the ballasts please. Iv done mine but not sure they are in the best place.
