Hi all,

I want to capture share details from owners who have got their Cupra' s past 80k plus on what issues we can expect going forward. Also want to capture info on tyres.

I'll start:

Milage: 82000
Year: 2014
Model: 280 DSG
Mods: Stage 1 Remap, Poweflex Lower Dogbone Mount
Cosmetic Issues: Stone chips, cracked paint on front bumper (very faint, perhaps impact related) Cupra badge on the front red paint 50% missing due to what looks like wear and tear. Replaced with gloss red vinyl.
Mechanical Issues: Rear wheel bearing went at circa 80000
Tyres: P Zeros - crap when below 7c otherwise ok
Rainsport 3s - deal with the cold better than the p zeros and obviously the wet which is surprising when for a car with 374hp. Not the most dynamic though and you notice they don't grip much differently in the dry - I think this is where the Pilot Sports and F1s of the world add value
How does the car feel given its milage: Like new ! But then again I believe most modern cars feel like this if you properly maintain them

Personally I would also like to see specifically peoples issues in regards to the common issues seen here

1/ Cracked White Edging on the seats (I think more 290's)
2/ LED Lights full stop - how have the fared over the years as they are expensive to replace
3/ Leaks in the Rear Lights
4/ Heating Matrix failures
5/ I think more common on the smaller engine cars but DSG Issues and increasingly I am seeing Clutch issues on very new cars.
6/ For those with Diamond Cut wheels how have they lasted or have you replaced / powder coated them (I have done both)
7/ Headlight leveling issues - Lights not testing themselves when you first start the car
8/ For those cars fitted with bigger brakes (eg the Brembo's) have you had so called disk warping

FYI My car is same as yours but only just over 25k

This fills me with confidence. I do 15k miles a year and my 280 is on 34k. glad she has a few years left in her lol

2014 Cupra 280 DSG.

56k Miles full Seat service history (for what that’s worth)

Small mods, 12mm spacers (so speed humps don’t break my back), RamAir Intake & Centre Silencer Delete (purely for sound but has added a few bhp)

Thankfully no major mechanical problems so far, car feels good.

Many stone chips unfortunately (black car). Had a leaking rear light replaced under warranty and have the odd rattle/ buzzing on the interior trim.

Luckily no seat rips.

Wheels are now powder coated, this was done by the dealer I bought it from. I don’t mind that as I find diamond cuts a pain to maintain. Tyres are Falken FK510, decent UHP tyre for the price, fronts have lasted me a year and 10k Miles.

The high mileage doesn’t concern me and it’s within my finance agreement so I’m very happy with my Cupra

I had scuff guard applied to the front of the Cupra and my wife's Arona. It cost $NZ750 each car, but one respray would exceed that.
Best car investment ever on our roads.
