I have just bought an S2000 filter and an 80 to 70mm reducer and tried to put the silicone on the filter neck and despite putting the reducer in boiling water and forcing it on, the bugger won't go on

I've measured the diameter of the neck and it's 85 mm so I'm thinking, are there other s2000 filters out there which have an 80 mm neck.

Help please

Could you fit the 80mm end inside the filter neck? Maybe a little trimming/sanding required.

Don't think so. I'll have to search for a 90 to 70 reducer and use rubber tape to increase the diameter of the neck to 90mm from 85.

It was a reducer from ebay, measures 80mm but the filter neck, just measured it is 86.3mm

Are you measuring the inside diameter of the reducer?

****... ok so 2 things you can do. Heat up the silicon I know you said you tried it already, but also try to lube the silicon with soap.

If you can’t return the silicon coupler then sometimes it helps you can make small cuts around the 80mm side then it can expand like a fan and allow it to be forced on , then put clamp over it obviously.

Lastly either a new silicone coupler or ... what I would do is get an 80mm pvc Tube and clamp the coupler and the filter both into it as a joint.

New coupler ordered at 90 mm to 70, silicone tape wrapped around the neck of the filter to take it to 90mm diameter then new coupler will fit perfectly.

Thanks for the responses dude, appreciated
