nope mine wasnt that bad though did have an awful lot of black dust and crud on it, washed out a treat.

yeah there was a bit of fluffy dust on there but all the top stuff was more noticable, ended up hoovering the filter with the Dyson to get most of it out, after i had done the solvent spray!!!

I have'nt been anywhere special, just loads of motorway driving, dorset, and the country lanes round here....was suprissed myself!!

Alex...What you trying to say?? As you know, "the only good bug is a dead bud!!"

BadlydrawnBananna, i brushed it off with a stiff brush, then hoovered it as i dont have an airline at home to blow it out, then you get a solvent sparay to take the sticky polymer off, this is available for Bill @ Badger 5, well thats where i got mine from, then you let it dry and re apply the new polymer spray, hopefully when the filter is all nice and clean....job done...:)

mark i rubbed the dry filter to get any loose stuff off by hand then filled my carwash bucket with hot water and steeped it and rubbed around the foam to see if anything else came out of it. i also used a little fairy liquid to remove any oil.
left t out in the sun last week for a couple of hours and shook any dampness off.
job done.
I also painted the filter cover red as it was a little trampy looking and dull.

How often do you need to remove the polymer coating and re-apply?

Checked mine after about 5k miles and it was barely dirty so just brushed the bits off and gave it a bit of a hoover.

Usual place, ducting to the inner wing. The filter actually came off my Ibiza Cupra and I've just taken it off and fitted it to my new LCR (80mm maf one with reducer for smaller ibiza maf).

Cheers

Fwiw, the Raid site (same company) list the following re. cleaning
The life-span of raid hp filters can become infinite if regular service cleaning is carried out (usually the same interval as when to change the factory fitted paper filter).

Just cleaned my filter, what a pain in the arse that was. The instructions on the cans are crap, it says to apply the cleaning fluid liberally from the clean side out and then just leave it for 15mins. What you're left with is a filter full of cleaner and crap! I had to rinse it thoroughly in a bucket of warm water and leave it to dry.

Applying the polymer, the can squirts in a jet so you have to move up and down and around the filter trying to get an even coating. The whole thing ends up really sticky :censored:
