How good is the Leon sat-nav?

The only settings in there is the announcement volume and to turn off guidance during a call.

Found something in the setup\volume menu labelled "audio lowering", you can change this from off, low, medium, strong. Not sure if that is what reduces the audio for nav announcements.

That sounds like the jobby. Theres a separate one for the parking sensors. I'll check what mines set to - think low for nav and strong for beepers IIRC>

Went for a quick drive last night with the setting on strong and it muted the music with the parking sensor beeps, it might've done this before but I don't quite remember. The music volume did reduce but not by much and not every time. I think it only reduces it if the music volume is louder than the nav announcements. Unfortunately the OH was moaning that the music was too loud and kept turning it down! I couldn't find a separate volume reduction setting for the parking sensors, only for the sensor beep loudness volume.

I've just tried the Audio Lowering setting and it didn't make any difference to the music volume, neither Radio or Media (iPod) reduced for the announcements.

Out of interest, what do you have hooked up to the car? I have my iPod Touch, use the DAB Radio, and Bluetooth Music from my iPhone (though I have just removed this leaving it as handsfree phone only).

I tested it with dab and SD card. It seems to only lower when the music volume is higher than the announcement volume. I've also found the separate volume lowering setting for the parking sensor beeps.

I'm also having issues with street numbers. Put in the town > street> number it'll take you straight there. Put in the postcode 'no street data available for this location'. Bit of a pita.

What is up with postcode entries? I can't get it to find an address at all and getting the same no street data available message.

I get the same as well. Even though my brochure says 7 digit post code availability I'm guessing it only has 5 digit recognition!
Another one to add to the "dipping n/s mirror and turning fog lights" list!

Had another try tonight, set the sat nav for home and drove in the opposite direction!

Looks like you are right terryt while driving I turned the radio up and sure enough the sound was reduced for the announcements. So I switched over to my iPod and nearly blew my ear drums! It would seem the iPod is much louder than the car thinks it is which is why it wasn't lowering the volume as it thought it was already quiet enough. Haven't figured out how to fix that yet though...

Each input has its own volume control, as far as I can tell, alter the volume control while an announcement is on...

Got a reply for Seat CS regarding the map updates:

Subject: Sat Nav

Dear Mr

Thank you for contacting SEAT UK Customer Services regarding satellite navigation updates.

I am delighted to inform you that the SD cards with the updates are available from our SEAT UK Dealership network. These will be available annually, this means there will not be an update released until 2014.

I hope this information it useful; should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me using the details below.

Kind regards

Fiona Hankin

SEAT UK

So I'm guessing as we are entitled to 3 years worth of updates I'll be chasing my dealer in 2014, 2015, and 2016 for new SD cards for the Nav System.

I might be missing something here but where does it say the updates are free? All the statement says is that they'll be available, free and available are two different things. Whilst you may be right you could equally be wrong and SEAT will charge for them, they are after all in business.

By the way, I took a Leon to Belgium the other day, the Sat Nav told me I'd arrived at my destination exactly to the metre as I got there. Brilliant system.
