had my 51 plate cupra for 2 years now, currently 122k (im 2nd owner, previous owner put 92k on it)... unfortunately not without its repairs :(

mass air flow sensor

broken spark plug (the tip had broken off into the engine)

abs sensor front left wheel

clutch pedal broken

split pipe underneath manifold

water pump

coolant temperature sensor faulty

oil pickup blocked (took off the sump and the pickup and cleaned)

power steering belt (and all the other bits it connects too, forgot its name sorry)

all 4 door seals (weeks of soggy carpet)

snapped/broken spring on suspension(front left)

Brake light switch has been replaced also

and last but certainly not least!

handbrake released itself and car rolled down a hill (yes i know i forgot to leave it in gear :(), went through a metal farmers gate and hit a concrete post not far behind the gate (new bumper, 2 wings and headlight needed to repair it.. and a bonnet respray)

but i still adore the car :D

Most likely at work
done 79k miles...bought it when i had 68k miles.in my 10k odd mileage,iv not had a good time apart from my love for the car...

faded paint - so got the infamous repsray.

a month after i bought it my clutch went, bought a new one (come to think of it,it might not have been the full clutch, couldv been the cylinder or something)

then i had 2 collapsed hoses, got them fixed.

then had 3 leaky door seals wich i noticed after pissing down with rain, got them fixed.

then my window wipers stopped working, in the process of getting that fixed

then i lost a coilpack, bought a new one,not ran a full VAG COM yet so im not sure if its sorted.

then i realised my temp guage sensor is fooked, going to ignore that.

had gunk coming out of my engine, so installed a catch can which in honestly, doesnt help much.

had oil leaks in 4 different places through my time with the car, and found a new one on the left side of the engine bay.

and since iv installed a soundsystem, had fuses popping all the way,not figured out how to fix it.

my rear suspension squeals big time when i reverse so that needs sorted.

and i get the feeling that the person before me lied about changing the cambelt so i need that done too..this is going to be an exensive service...

jan '02 cupra 4 tdi 150 currently on 126500 km (79000 miles). bought it 6 months ago on 71000 miles

Faults

had a broken coil spring when i bought it. replaced both fronts.
leaky door seals fixed
a shock damper went on the MOT, replaced both fronts along with the wishbones.
2 new winter tyres @ £190 each! (225/45 R17)
then yesterday the CV joint went, so it's now in the workshop getting fixed
the air intake hose popped out yesterday and the seal is cracked, so that'll have to be replaced at around £200 :(

apart from a broken A/C compressor and a rattly sunroof, that's about it :p

not too bad really for a 7 year old car, and it starts first time, every time. even at -10 (as long as the door isn't frozen)

My 2001 Leon Cupra has done 178,000 miles.
Had it from new, and honestly, the only trouble I had was with the usual coil packs, a window regulator, and a broken nearside spring.
Still on it's original clutch, and water pump.
Had it's first cambelt change at 115,000 miles.

A full service history helps I'm sure!

So don't be put off by so called high mileages, these engines if looked after will last well beyond 200,000+

Happy motoring!!
