This fix does work, my gear changes are crisp and no more crunching now when going up gear fast and no more whine in 3rd gear

Don't suppose you have the part numbers for shim and cap so i can quote them to TPS, as got one just round the corner from me?
Also do TPS sell the general public?

Thanks for your time. :)

Recently I've noticed a slight whirring sound when letting off the accelerator and was wondering if it was gearbox related.
Would a 54 plate FR TDI have this type of gearbox....I've not had the car that long so I'm still familiarising myself with the details.
What sort of mileage are people requiring these shims? Mines just about hit 90k and has no shifting issues.

Not sure mate have alook and see if u have the cap on the side of the gearbox, I'm at 91.000 and fitted mine not that log ago, massive difference to gear changes, I'd fit it as soon as you hear about this part, you may not need the shim tho as a few people can't get it in so don't need it, have alook worth the work

Mine started whining slightly around the 150k mark.
My parts arrived from David @ Sere today so fingers crossed it doesn't rain Sunday.

All done and dusted :)
What an Genius fix, so simple but has made a massive difference, sounds so quiet in my car now when letting off the accelerator and no longer sounding like a battered old buses gearbox.

Wish i had done this earlier if i knew it would have been such a simple fix.

Thanks for your help :D
