How to use touch up paint without it looking rubbish!

No happy with mine still there are still marks where I sanded back (2500 only a couple of stokes!) really don't think this is good is you do not have a machine polisher tbh.

I've been slowly working on mine over the last couple of weeks and whilst it's nowhere near as bad as it was, I can't get rid of the effect that 'something' has happened to the paintwork. Cocktail sticks, staged application, and 3000 W&D paper followed by rubbing compound, scratch X, paint cleanser, polish and wax and still looks very average.

Considering taking it for a proper job after Christmas as every time I see it, it gets on my t1ts.

Yes I was thinking the same thing, well bonnet respray I can get a good deal through work with the body shop opposite but will mean no car for a few days and cycling to work lol! I said when I started that if it was not good I would get a bonnet respray the 3 or 4 chips I filled on the wings look great though.

Well ive been out painting my car loads of blobs of paint everywhere...was really hard to get a picture that you could see anything but this will do...

It was in a dire state 90% of it was done before i owned it but was masked over and i only found out when i done my first detail on it after i got it...plus driving down the A13 to work lots doesnt help either.

havent got the money for a respray due to other things so going to try and make it look as good as possible how it is at the moment...

Are you still using your JML scratch remover and not a proper cutting compound?

If so this is why as its not coarse enough :)

Quick question.

I have a black Leon MK1 which I beleive is 'Black Magic' (are there any other blacks?)

I had a look in Halfords yesterday for one of these touch up kits but under SEAT it on listed Red and Grey/Silver. But under Skoda it listed Black Magic. Is that the same paint?

Cheers :)

This one: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_222657_langId_-1_categoryId_165580

Yes, Skoda Black Magic and SEAT Black Magic are allegedly the same

(I say allegedly, as there are variants, paint is the same colour, pearlescent flakes differ, there is a Gold Flake, a silver flake and a silver/blue flake. For a touch up pen for scartches, it shouldn't notice.

I have used the Skoda one on stone chips in my bumper, and its a 99% colour match

strongly recommend getting the kit in my link rather than halfords stuff it is not exactly that expensive either and obviously other than the paint you can use the kit on other cars as well! Just using the paint on its own looks quite crap!

Hmm comes in at just over £17 not too much more I suppose as it has the other bits in there.

I see it doesn't come with primer though. Will the base coat stick without it? Seems unlikely..
