Huge amounts of lag

Evening all.

I'm in need of a second opinion on an issue with my ibiza cupra pd160.

I bought the car last week and instantly noticed a shed load of lag before boost of any kind.

The car will not pull any boost untill 3000rpm and is a little dangerous when pulling out as it's completely flat untill 3k then it goes AWOL untill just over 4k then drops off again.

Now the guy I got it from said it was mapped by a local guy but I have no proof of this (Big mistake I no) but the way the car behaves says it's got a bad map on.

Now today I've gave the car a once over to check everything, all boost pipes are tight and sealed, egr is clean and tight, fmic is in decent condition with no holes or cracks, I did a Mr muscle clean on the turbo and the actuator moves as it should.

My question is has the car got a bad map or is it likely to be something else?

I don't have vcsd or access to it atall but I do have the original factory map and a copy of the map that's been loaded onto the car.

Is anyone on here able to read the map if I was to send it over to see if everything is set correctly (unsure if this is possible) or if anyone is able to flash the original map back onto the car.

It was intended to be my daily but is proving difficult having absolutely no power before 3000rpm.

Thanks in advance !!

(A picture of the car is attached, it had a seatcupra.net sticker in the window so if anyone knows any history of the car id be very grateful)

Hello and Welcome

Where about are you located?

The symptoms could be a crappy map or it could be another issue - such as fueling.
Hi badger!

Thanks for the reply !

I'm located in Loughborough (leicestershire)

I've gone through most things that could potentially cause this and everything seems fine. Only thing(s) I haven't changed is the MAF and MAP sensors.

Regards!

In this situation it's best to invest in a VAG KKL Cable and VCDS Lite - total cost is £8 (the demo version will still do logs and is free)

Can you read the map from the car?

I do plan on getting a cable etc I've just never needed it as my fabia has been faultless despite the mods etc.

I would have no idea where to start when using the vag-com? But I'm sure there's plenty of threads on using it and what to look for.

I'm unsure what you mean by reading the map? Do you mean the map sensor reading or do you mean the actual map on the ecu?

I have a copy of both the original factory map and the supposed re-map file, again I have no idea what to look for or where to even begin.

If you have the remapped file you can have a look and see how it's been done - you a member of any facebook groups?
What software would I need to do look into the map file?

Unfortunately not, I'm not a fan of social media so try to keep clear.

I was hoping I could send the file to someone on here and they could take a look, give me a spanner and I'm away but software boggles me beyond belief.

In summary - mapped by a retard...

Raised Driver's Wish, Torque Limiter and Smoke Limiter but left stock fueling and boost maps (complete mess)

I thought it would be. In one sense I'm glad that it's a crappy map as it can be rectified in a sense quite easily.

Now would it be a great option to find someone who can flash the original map back onto the car before it explodes. I have no idea what those things you mentioned are but they don't sound great.

Appreciate your help massively

Shame you're not local as I would flash it for you - must be someone local.
Where abouts are you located? I don't mind a little road trip failing that, I'll get in touch with some garages see if they can help without being extortionate
