Ibiza 06 1.4 won't start!!

Hi guys

As you can see I'm from Leon section but issue with the wife's 06 reg Ibiza 1.4 this morning.

When tried to fire up starter motor was just whirring fast but not turning engine over. When tried starting in gear with clutch out it was connected to engine & bunny hopped down the drive but still didn't won't to know!!

Tried pushing down road to bump start & then a high pitched warning tone & the oil light came on!

Seems strange that the starter motor doesn't seem to be connected to engine/fly wheel when in neutral but when in gears moves the car forward. Also no idea about tone/oil light as checked & levels were OK.

If anyone can offer an opinion would be greatful.

Why can't it ever be as easy as a battery or a starter motor.. Good luck, I have no idea.

Random guess is crank position sensor.

Sounds like low battery to me. Check the simplest stuff first.

I'm no expert at all mate, but thought I'd randomly comment anyway.

Does the fuel pump prime?
