Morning all,

Have noticed this is getting worse recently.

If car is hot, then stopped for just a few minutes (fuel fill, stop at the shops etc) then it can be hard to restart. Needs quite a few cranking attempts before it fires up. Surprisingly, I don't see a huge cloud of smoke once it restarts.

Other than that, the car seems to perform fine - power output seems normal (quick & dirty check of 0-60 time !).

If left for a few more minutes - say 10+ minutes - then it seems to start fine.

No engine management light on.

Initially, I am going to try a tankful of decent fuel, and a new fuel filter.

Any other suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert on the diesel engines, but when that happens on the petrol models ,it's pretty much always the coolant temp sensor... the car thinks it's starting from cold and uses too much fuel.
