Opinions on here are all well and good, but the only way you are going to know for sure is to drive them both.

Frankly I'm astonished that the retailer you placed your order with only had a 1.0 75 for you to drive. If I were you I'd be making some calls and finding another retailer nearby that has a 1.0 TSI 95 (it won't be hard, most of us have one) rather than driving yourself mad for circa 16 weeks whilst you wait for yours to arrive.

They aren't much of a saving up front, but they're inflation-proof so you'll save more in the long run, and you can pay for it on 0% over 18 months so don't need to find a lump to pay for each service when it is due. Bit of a no-brainer really.

I didn’t place an order with the dealer I test drove with. I went with another dealer as they were significantly cheaper and cheapest on car wow.

I have been told the service plan at the moment only covers the first 2 services. It works out £44 cheaper monthly than to buy them when they come so I don’t see the point.

I agree that the slower engines do not reflect well on the FR brand. I have the 1.5 ecotsi FR with 150bhp and whilst not in hot hatch sub 7 0-62moh it is still rapid at 7.6. The torque is pretty outstanding for a small petrol. The slower FRs should be FR Line like suggested above.

Emailed my dealer about the costs of swapping from a 95 to a 115 and he said the FR has gone up £1000? So it was an extra £1600 to swap (600 is difference between 95 and 115). He said as I ordered a month ago, the price of my car won’t change.

Hi,
You made a good choice on the LEDs, they do change the look of the car.
I think you should notice a difference between the two engines, difference you can see on paper with torque and 0-60 figures. I test drove the 115 and chose the 95. As I think about it I can only remember that the 115 had a lot more turbo lag than I have on the 95 (maybe this was specific to the car I test driven).
You also have to think if you need 5 or 6 speeds as it can make a difference. I found that the 5 speed gearbox 1st and 2nd speeds are a bit tall and find myself using the clutch a lot to "crawl" at low speeds. I am thinking that maybe the 6 speed is better at this. (to be confirmed from other users).
The final choice depends on you and the uses you have in mind for the car. (you do city, long trips, you frequently have 4 adults and luggage, you like to be first when lights go green... )

I have the 6 speed and it is no better. It's the lack of torque that makes us use the clutch so often. This motor is so much worse than the old 1.2.

I have been told the black box marks quite harshly with regards to speed etc, is that right?

Sort of. If you go over the speed limit it will mark you down, however there are two other categories for each drive (usage and smoothness) which are very difficult to score low on, so the average for each drive can be positive even if the speed is a negative mark.

So it rates you on speed, usage and smoothness? Is there an app you can view this on? Is usage a curfew?

We have traffic light boxes at work (green amber red based on speed and smoothness of acceleration/braking /cornering). Last time I drove with a box (in a turbo diesel with a cold engine), it red-lighted me after the first T-junction when the boost finally came in with a wallop. My buddy managed 400 miles without a redlight but got one for speeding on the last downhill straight before giving the car back to the pool - Haha!

I guess the insurance company ones work the same way but dock you points for every amber or red event.

Correct.
No but there is a website.
No curfews, but late night driving will damage your usage score. Not sure what the times are but generally you can expect 10 on usage if you drive between 7am-10pm (those are the only times I've really tried)

Also another interesting point, unlike some insurers there is no map of where the car went, where it is now, or exactly where speeding or braking occurred. It just shows the start and stop time of the journey and the three scores for each journey.

I know you get a code from your dealer to activate the insurance so do you have to wait for your box to arrive or do they do it there and then?

A day or two after you collect the car the insurance people will ring you to arrange a time and date for box installation.

I thought that would be the case. Do you not have an option to fit the box yourself? Would i have to pay them to fit the box? I have fitted a black box before so I know how to do it and would prefer to save myself some money.

A company will come over and do it for free.

Still no build week, told the Seat factory shuts this week until September so it'll be September before I get a build week. On the upside, it'll be a 68 plate instead of an 18, sad I know lol

I’ve been tracking mine on the boat for the last couple of days, it gets addictive. It landed Monday but waiting for a collection date. Hopefully the time scale will be the same as yours

Mine was 5-7 working days for it to leave the port and arrive at the dealer and then a couple of days to prepare it for collection. Seems about right.

I drove an Hyundai i30 1.0GDI (zipcar) yesterday. It's suppose to have 120bhp (so 10 bhp) more than my 1.0 EcoTSI 110 DSG. Maybe it's where at which revs it develops the power, or perhaps it's 25 nm torque down, oh boy, the VAG engine is so much better. In top gear it can pootle, and maintain 45-50mph @ around 1.7k rpms, no complains from the engine, in the i30 @ same revs in 5th (it still has a 6th), it starts groaning and whinging. Anyway my experience on the 1.0TSI (higher power one) mpg wise is long term / since refill mpg can range from anywhere from 44-50mpg. Currently it's @ 47mpg over 1100 miles. I usually drive 75% in London city, in weekday evenings or weekends, so traffic is usually medium/light. On a run from Lon to Machester (inc 2 long 50mph roadworks zones), I did 57mpg, return it did 54mpg (slightly different route), and tank economy was 55 for that trip (yes I did there and back on the same tank). The lower powered 1.0TSI might be marginally better on fuel all things equal.

Do I find the power sufficient for city driving, absolutely. Do I find it a bit lacking especially if I put my foot flat when the 40mph limit changes to NSL, yes, and I have to pull to the middle lane as the cars behind are accelerating faster. Then again it depends on what previous cars you have. My previous was 150bhp with 320Nm...so the 1.0 feels a bit weak, and my next woud be 152bhp with 250nm, lets see how that is...

It is full LED yes. I am not sure about that tbh, it is a MY19 though so it doesn't have the plastic dash. It has a leather dash with red stitching. Very nice imo
