My cars nearly done 26k and its been 5k miles since it was serviced, should i have the oil changed every 5k or 10k?

Also should i tell the dealer to put in 506.01 spec oil as the car is remapped or should i let them put 505.01 oil in?

Is there any difference between the two?

Many thanks

One obvious difference between 505.01 and 506.01 is the viscosity: 5W40 versus 0W30, respectively.

Personally, I've decided to use 505.01 and change it myself (using a Pela extractor) at the 5000 mile points in between services. This may not be strictly necessary, but I've never been convinced that oil 10,000 miles old is quite as good as nice fresh oil. But for £20-odd quid for a bottle of Millers XFE-PD, I think it's worth it - even if it's only to make me feel better about looking after the engine.

As for which one to use in a remapped 130, that's an interesting question. VW have said that they recommend 506.01 on TDIs above 150 bhp - and that would certainly include yours. But whether that's because the longevity of the oil is better, or whether it's due to the 506.01 oil being a better lubricant is not clear. If it's purely because of better longevity, I think I'd rather stick to 505.01 and do the extra 5000-mile changes.

I have read many people saying that 506.01 gives better fuel economy.
