Ibiza Sport 2.0 - What are they like to live with?

Hi all,

I have had a search but nothing relevant came back.

I've been researching a lot into the 1.9tdi sport ibiza and like what i have found a lot, but they don't come up that often around the 3.5-4k range in decent condition. (apart from yellow/white ones).

Spotted some nice 2.0 sport's for sale on autotrader and wondered what they were like to live with daily? I'm after something fastish but for a 2.0 they seem very underpowered at 115bhp. Would a remap sort this or is it just an old/underperforming engine?

Thanks for the help,

James

Save your pennies and get a diesel or a 1.8t petrol imho. With the diesel, you will get more of your money back when you come to sell. I would never drive a nasp petrol again.

if you want fast ish, i think you would be better of looking at something else, the 2.0 petrol in its day was a more than passible engine, but nowadays it doesnt compare mainly due to it being very thirsty (due to its size) and being low powered. On a normal aspirated engine look for about 10-15% increase from a remap so will be in the region of 125bhp which would put it sub 10secs to 60.

For that i would suggest you look for the ibiza 130TDi sport which is regarded by alot of people as the best all round car SEAT have ever done in the MK4 ibiza, should be fairly cheap as well, and at lest then you have a good return in MPG, torque etc

One of my collegues had this engine in a Golf GTI, it drank fuel like it was going out of fashion! If he drove everywhere at 50Mph and no more, idled down hills and things, he would very very lucky to see 33MPG...
I would get the 1.8T or a diesel...

Thanks for the reply, I'm leaning towards the 130tdi now definitely - either that or a 100bhp 1.9tdi polo :)

i think buying a 2.0 Ibiza is kind of like shagging Nicola from girls aloud, yeah your shagging a girl from girls aloud but you still wish it was Sarah harding or Cheryl Cole.

in other words go for a 130 tdi or 1.8t as you will end up dissapointed and wish you had'nt bought the 2.0 as it has nothing going for it
