Ibiza tailgate won't open

My 2008 Ibiza tailgate won't open, I can hear the actuator working when the button is pressed and it also won't unlock when I use the key in it. Any ideas?

Will be the lock mech. Mine went when the car was 4 years old. Needed a new lock assembly

I had the same problem with my 2006 Ibiza,

search you tube for " Seat Ibiza boot lock stuck closed " and there is a guide.

On my car the actuator mechanism was slightly loose and also needed lubricating, I held the actuator in a better position with some tie wraps and it is perfect now.

Getting the trim panel off and back on was a bit of a fiddly job as the clips break easily.
