Hi guys.
Had a bump last weekend and smacked a kerb. Smashed a 5-6" chunk out of the front passenger alloy and knocked the tracking out.
Got a replacement rim and tyres fitted this morning, along with having the tracking reset.

The guy came and got me to show me why my tracking was out....
Ive bent/kinked the track rod arm

The tracking isnt too far out now, but I would like to replace the arm.
Are they relatively easy to change, or do they need specialist tools?
Also while nothing else appears to be damaged, what else should I look at/prepare myself for?

TIA

They did an alignment with a bent track rod? Jesus wept, what kind of butchers do you have in the motor trade there?
I hope they didn't charge you for it. You'll need another when you replace the arm.

I would maybe think about the steering column. My brother hit a very deep pothole at about 40 mph and damaged the tyre, the suspension, the track rod and the steerign column.

Would you prefer they left the tracking out? If they didn't have the part to do the repair surely getting the tracking near to spec is better than ruining a new there while the OP waits to affect repairs.

Unfortunately, I need to use the car, all be it for small trips, and wasnt risking destroying a band new trye.

Jeeze! The column as well?!? I thought things we stronger than cheese.

You cannot get it even near right. The bend will cause incorrect angle change through its travel.
It'll will cause premature wear anyway. And, I bet they charged for it.
I'm surprised they didn't offer to heat it and bend it straight?
Alignments were part of my job, I know how they're done properly.
BTW. How long does it take to get a new track rod anyway? It'd be overnight here at most, and we're half a globe away from Europe.

Yeah louG is right, if anything to do with suspension or steering is bent. No point in even touching the tracking, let alone releasing the car. Just means now you need to get the replacement part and have the tracking done again.

A track rod inner our outer, is an easy part to get hold of and replace.

I would get them to do the repair and make sure they do the tracking again to make sure it's in spec if it was me

Update.
Track rod has been replaced, camber is still out. Have also developed a noisy wheel bearing. :thumbd:
Cars booked into local dealer for service on Monday, see if they can see anything.

Having a bearing issue after smacking a kerb is not surprising, I'm guessing that they did not notice that the subframe crossmember had moved, as that would upset the camber on both sides, though if it is only the camber on "this" side, maybe the wishbone absorbed the smack - or the strut did.

This is a proper SEAT workshop that you are getting to sort this car out in isn't it?

Ive been wondering if the subframe had moved.
But we'll find out come Monday.
And yes, it is a proper SEAT garage.
