Okay work this out.....!

I was insured with a Insurance Company through a broker on my Golf and that was cool, then I got the Beeza and so I appraoched the same broker to insure me on the beeza as well!

Now the company already had all my details especially details of my ban that I finished in March 2001 after totting up which is a TT99.

They quoted me just over £1k which was the best quote and so I paid £400 up front in November and then had to pay the rest back at £220 per month for 3 months!

I send all my paperwork back and on Friday I get a call at work from the broker saying that they did not know that I had a TT99 and that I was going to get a 7 day notice to cancel from them......oh and that they also wanted £22o for Decembers cover when I had already paid £400 up front!

Anyway I now had to look for some new insurance and so I rung up a company that specialises in people with points and she joked that she would easily beat the new quote of £2k that the other broker had recieved from the company that was about to cancel my insurance...lost yet???

Cool...she says yeah with your TT99 I can get it to £1040 ... wow whos that with... ****** wow thats the same company thats about do ditch me and they wanted £2k through this other broker! are you sure! yes came the answer!

Si I paid my £320 deposit and the long shot is that I am now insured with the same company through another broker at half the price and with the same details!

So tommorow I will have two policys with the same company through two brokers with one being cancelled and the other starting??? Does anybody have a clue or can explain that one cos if you can you are a better man than me!

I have not mentioned company names for legal reasons because I have written to the Insurance Ombudsman.

Weird World!

It's all to do with liability.

Certain brokers will not take risks with policies as they cannot afford to put through claims to the insurance companies and have them held up, plus they will always want to make as much money as possible, so they have more than likely just thought they will ditch the responsibility that they don't want and hope that you will pay the extra to cover their insecurity.

Insurance is a very strange industry, they can quote you one thing one minute and change their minds the next, it depends on what they have been told by their sales team advisers. They were maybe told to try and push for more from you for the increased risk hoping you would not think anything of it, some people can't be arsed to look around.

Wait and see what the ombudsman says, but it may take some time before you get a solid answer.

Just enjoy driving again and with you lower quote.. !! and don't get caught speeding again.. ;) (I didn't say don't speed.. just don't get caught.. lol)

If you have TT99 on your license. Try Chris Knott or Liverpool Victoria - its not great, but its comparable to a premium from most other insurers for me without the TT99.

To put things into perspective, Ashbourne in Cheshunt were always the cheapest for me (beat the tescos, fluxs, et al hands down). But once the license came back without the individual SP30s on it, and was replaced by TT99 my quotes went from £1300 to £5500.

Chris Knott and Liverpool Victoria both quoted about £1k. Yipee...back in the game.
