internet explorer crashes when i open this thread?

when i open this thread, after a few seconds internet exporer crashes.

(however i can stop this by pressing the red cross / stop button on IE)

i have now confirmed it happens on another thread started by the same person...

Works fine for me in IE and Firefox 3 on Win XP o/s.

mmm..
we are on XP; ive had internet explorer crash/close every single time i have opened that thread (must be at least 15 times in order for me to write a short reply). Its never happened on another thread.
It can be 2 seconds after opening or up to 6or7 seconds.

I'm running IE7 / XP Pro at work without issue...

(Use Firefox everywhere else)

Andy, have you tried the new IE V8 Beta to see if that works any better?

i cant run anything else, as im at work and im a little fish in a farily big pond. And anyway i cant really ask them to change because of a forum (and im not sure that changing internet explorer will solve the issue rather than swerve round it).

If it means anything, in the thread concerned, if i click on the profile name, the drop down menu appear but then closes almost instantly rather than staying open. It does not do this on other threads.

just tried that one. - the same thing happened, it shut down IE after a few seconds.

Try changing your SCN settings to hide sigs, then see what happens?

same thing happened to me, on 2 seperate computers.

Missed last nights basingstoke meet because I couldnt get the thread to stay open long enough to get any details

I've noticed a few times when viewing certain threads recently, explorer crashes when using XP too. I've never had probs before.

Try changing your SCN settings to hide sigs, then see what happens?

ill try that thurs morning and say if it helps.
at home now so different pc.

someone on the other thread said its due to the signature of the thread starter...

now that other people have confirmed they have this issue and not just me, can we look into finding out what the cause is and changing something?

(i would do it but im clueless when it comes to computers)

yes other threads with X Lollypop's X signature crashes internet explorer here.

If i change my settings to not display signatures it no longer crashes

If i go to that link and display the signature directly it does not crash internet explorer.


oh and not sure if its got anything to do with anything, but when i go into Xlollypop'sX thread below, in the time i get to view the thread before it crashes i noticed her signature does nto appear in the first post, but does in subsequent posts...

That happens with me too.

(Not that this is my area of expertise,) it seems like it's a problem involving your IE setup, the new image viewer and animated GIFs. I'll mention it to Admins.
