My iPod classic and iPod touch 3rd generation work perfectly with my media system which is MY16.

Android Auto/mirror Link and my LG G3 is a different matter though!
How are you connecting it ?
Is it via the front usb?

Yes. Plugged the standard apple usb/30pin lead into the USB in the centre console and everything works fine. Have total functionality of the iPod's through the head unit and steering wheel.

:D that's good to know
I'll go back to customer service
I don't suppose you know what version number and software version your media system is running ?

Are you using the same iPods as me? Classic and 3rd gen touch.

Recognised mine straight away. Shows album art, can skip songs on steering wheel, random play, etc.

Yeah a 160gb classic and various touches. I've also tried going backwards to an original 3rd gen classic but nothing is recognised

My NEW SEAT LEON ST is another one "they are aware of". No Apple products (iPod, iPhone, Ipad) of various generations and iOS versions are recognised when connected via USB!

Had another chat with the dealer still no fix but I wonder if they really check with Seat. If anyone does hear anything about either activating Full Link or getting the ipod/phone to work on the USB do post ASAP.

I'm still in contact with SEAT customer service and have been assured that as soon as its fixed they will be in touch.

I'll post here as soon as I hear back

And a funny side note I did scare the VW commercial dealer when we took my wifes new T5 back due to a dodgy DAB radio, with ......Oh have you checked that the new T6 usb interface actually works as the same one in my SEAT doesn't.

His face was priceless ;)

Hello, first post, so go easy on me... ;)

I have bought a 64 plate Seat Leon without the Tech Pack, but when i try and plug my iPhone into the USB port in the glovebox it does not play. I get an error saying "device not recognised".

Is it because i don't have the Tech Pack?

It's not a major issue as i can use bluetooth streaming and use the USB to charge my phone.

Thanks :)

As promised

Ive just had another call from SEAT customer service.
Been told that a solution is under test at Milton Keynes and should be rolled out via the dealers towards the end of this year and this affects all VAG vehicles fitted with the same media system

Was advised to keep in contact with the dealer and should be informed when solution available.

Joe2641 - If I was you I'd still call SEAT customer service and log the fault. The more that they log the quicker they may sort ;)

I reckon car technology still has a couple of years until smart phones connect with them seamlessly :/.
Or car manufacturers will have to get use to upgrading the tech every year or so as new phones and devices come out

Anyone had any luck yet?

I've the same problem. SEAT UK call centre didn't have a clue what the issue was or knew of any other reports.....

Anyway they've booked me into the dealer to have them look at it.

From what I've seen so far it seems most likely a design release mistake on MY16 models if you don't select Full Link as an option. (They probably didn't release the apple chip on non-Full link head units).

Noticed on the SEAT website that Full Link upgrade is available for £199 through dealers from October......

I can't post the link as don't yet have 15 posts but it's under the Offers/Owner Offers tabs.

Interesting! So maybe it is just software after all.

I think I'll ask the dealer to enable Full link - if iPods then work via USB it was a software problem, if it doesn't then it is something missing in the hardware.

I'll let you know, not going in till end of next week however.

Hi. Useful to know others have the same issue - just collected my MY2016 FR this week and have the 'Device not supported' issue with Apple devices as well. Tried iPhone 6 and iPad Air via lightning connector and iPod classic via 30-pin connector (both apple standard issue cables).

Car doesn't currently have Full Link enabled, but the dealer I purchased from did confirm it was available to retrofit to MY2016 models when available. They have it 'on test' at the dealership I bought from so have seen it working from a retrofitted/activated setup.
