I've lost my only key. How do I get the lock and transponder info now?

    Hello, I've read a few threads but they all seem to be for people that still have a key. I only got 1 key with the car and it's not been a problem for 2 years. I lost it (misplaced somewhere that I can't find) on Tuesday lunchtime and it's now Sunday!

    I've found a site that can cut and code a key for £20 http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk/products/Seat-Ibiza-transponder-key-HU66T.html but it relies on me having the code from the original key to cut the blade (and I assume code the transponder?).

    I don't have any keys, I don't have any pics of the keys, nor any numbers from them.

    Is there another way I can get the info? Last time I bought a key was about 5 years ago and it came to about £100!

    I have a 54 plate Ibiza Cupra diesel. The key was the one with the two buttons on it, the same as the pic below; [​IMG]

    What are my options now? I'm after the cheapest option, don't mind getting a flip key if that's cheaper. I'd still like the lock/ unlock option though else I'd just get a manual one, I also don't know if a manual one would turn off the alarm? I tend to deadlock it everytime too so chances are I deadlocked it last time I locked the car- which is activated by the locking module as opposed to the lock isn't it?

    I live in Worcester and am not in a rush, could wait a few days and get lifts although obviously the sooner the better. Thanks.

    Nope, manual key doesn't deactivate the alarm. Couldn't find my key one morning going to work, so had to use the spare all week. From unlocking & opening you have about 5 seconds to get the key in the ignition and to position 2. I failed almost every time! The alarm re-armed when locking with the key too. When you say deadlock, how do you mean?

    I too only have a spare key ;( thats what came with the car, i have to unlock the car and turn ignition straight away! lol

    Dosent really bother me tho

    Someone who is good with locks will need to gain entry to the car and get the ignition on without the key, quite simple if you have a wiring diagram, the alarm, not so. You can unplug the alarm speaker before hand but it's possible to start the car with a screwdriver and some clever programming (I know...)

    When you get that done, you can read the instrument cluster with VAG Commander to retrieve the SKC needed to program new keys or disable the Immobiliser completely. You'll need a new ignition barrel and door locks if you've lost all keys, unless there's a special way to find the key pattern?

    Rather than half answers and stuff that doesn't apply I'd appreciate a proper explanation as to what to do. I can most likely get into it with a bit of plastic binding (a la newspapers) or welding wire and 2 mins fiddling, if I didn't deadlock it. If I did then I guess I need to activate that signal to unlock it. I'm guessing/ kinda half remember testing it (press lock on the key twice, if you are unable to open the door from the inside by pulling the handle, it's deadlocked) and pretty sure it wouldn't unlock.

    Do the dealers not have a record of key blades and alarm codes? I'm extremely competent, just a bit lazy and forgetful and it's been a few years since I've built anything.

    I can't be the only person to have no keys in the history of VAG cars..... I'm sure the dealers wouldn't charge the customer for 3 locks, an ignition barrel, a key, programming, cutting and fitting just because they had no key, there'll be a list somewhere, surely? They hold all sorts of info on your vehicle, it's all listed under chassis/ reg no (assuming the person PDI'ing it did their job properly!)

    I would contact your local Seat dealer and ask if you can get a key cut from your VIN number and proof of ownership. Seat should be able to do this for you at what cost, not sure.

    For emergency use, all you need is the wiring diagram, a brick and VAG Commander and you can have must Immo-3 cars down the road...

    Or call any decent Automotive Locksmith, they should be able to cut you a new key and program on site.

    I used to have only one key before I lost it, now I have 2 additional sets (ordered online ) and prefer never lose them, the past situation was just awful. I know nowadays it is really not a big problem - one can call a locksmith or easily buy new keys at Internet store ( what is usually longer ).

    what area are you in?

    you will need a locksmith to get into the car. if you order a key from dealer, it will take a week or so and youl need proof of ID and ownership. they will get the key cut from VIN and away you go. it will already be programmed to the immobilizer, unless they have changed their system

    give them a call
