    Hey guys,

I have ordered brand new K&N filter into my vehicle.

Did anyone tried it in the 1.5 TSI. Did you noticed some noticable differenices in the sound etc? Maybe some video before/after? Thanks !

I noticed a little bit more sound from the intake as well as a blow off sound.
As for the performance, it's not a big difference (acording to tests i read online for other cars, you gain ~5hp), but the car feels like it's working easier and a little bit better (smoother). Sucking air more efficiently [IMG]

Thanks for your reply. That was my intention :coolthumb. I really like the sound of the blow off.

I iwill try to make a video of sound comparison BEFORE&AFTER and speed up from 40-100kmh before&after:drive1:...

Uhmm Thanks guys for your replies...

Today my K&N filter has arrived. I made video evidence also, hope i will have some time to make the video of the comparison...

But I am a little bit disappointed, the blow-off sound is almost the same, the intake sound also and i see no difference at all  ... I thought it will be some noticable better response in throttle, but nothing

This has been tested and proven over and over: the OEM intake system is the best and aftermarket filters make little to no difference... Ok, maybe some more intake noise on cars running high boost and big turbos.

Yep, i have feeling that engine is going better/faster to higher rpm. Hard to say if it is real or placebo, but i think i can feel some little difference here :).

I cheked some info via ELM327.

    Max turbo pressure: 1,3bar
    Max Intake pressure: 220kpa

I'd think that most people's move to K&N airfilters will be a one off activity, I've been there done that many many years ago, and my old tool storage system that I passed onto my mate still proudly carries the K&N sticker!

They will have a place somewhere out there, but not for most people, OEM or at least filters from who manufacturers the original VW Group filters always works for me.

The concept of a reusable filter I find very appealing and it works well enough in my horticultural machinery (although I notice a drift towards paper element types just of late). Quite a few years ago I almost bought one but after a considerable amount of research - I am renowned for going to ridiculous lengths before parting with hard earned cash - I "unearthed" a number of people who advised against them on the grounds that there was little to be gained over a good paper filter but, more disturbingly, because these are "oiled" filters fitted upstream of the MAF there is a significant possibility of contaminating the Air Mass element with a light coating of oil which will then attract dusty dirt. Obviously not desirable so I've just stuck with paper filters - anyone have an update on my historic knowledge on this?

What might concern me a bit more now then when I fitted a K&N filter is, current engines are turbo charged and/or supercharged, I'd be a bit wary about how well I managed to keep dirt particles away from the clean air side of the K&N after servicing it.

I'm interested in what you're saying here but not sure I really understand. "keeping dirt particles away from the clean air side after servicing it". The filter will be refitted to it's housing before use which, unless the housing is damaged, should ensure protection of the "clean air" side? and what difference does forced induction make to the air filter? or am I, as is often the case, just getting hold of the "wrong end of the stick" - again!
    Regards

  14. Don't know about the K&N but i have certainly re oiled a Racingline R600 And Revo Open Cone filter with no issues.

Sorry for being so thick! I get it now. For what it's worth I think I'll just stay with a good quality paper filter.

Do any one find a full intake induction kit for the Ibiza FR.
If any, can anyone post link or pics for it?!

I changed throttle response and now I feel a better performance from the car.
