    Hi

Here's some comparison pictures of K04 stock ex manifold, 034 manifold and Relentless
    Enjoy

034 - How is a std gasket going to fit such a large outlet? If you did fit one, it will reduce the size.

oh yes.. xs-power/relentless one.. Hmmm shiney!
this particular one (customers) had over 5mm flange warp from welding..
It also fouls on the studs, and needed "adjustment" to go on the head at all, and also now the flange has been ground flat the one tube runner touches the rocker cover.
There is a guy over on ASN however who has been running one for >6months without it breaking!

    cheap tho! :D

lol, no thats a stock gasket and its seal ring bump ridge is inboard of the 034 bore, so wont be a crush bump at all, and restrict the bore size down.. odd way of doing things unless there's a larger gasket or no gasket at all used.

    Hi Bill,

The gasket restricting the bore size down was a worry i had on my 034 Mani and CR hybrid.I think i understand your answer  Is it ok to do this or will it restrict flow?

Sounds like the one a customer asked me to fit. I think they hope the extra thick gasket they supply with the mani will take up the 5mm flange warp!!! This one fouled straight onto the head. :wtf:

That 034 mani will be a right pain with the gasket. Much smaller gasket contact patch. You going to smooth the turbo housing to give it a smooth flow rather than a nice edge?

I am not fitting it, the customer is, and I have suggested the housing be ported, but its his call if he can do the extra work to get it all off again. (its on an S3, and will be a kok of a job anyhow)

Depends solely if I can actually get the blower off without head removal. Not willing to remove the head again, within 2 weeks of refit. Extra costs that I simply cannot afford as project has gone big time over budget already...

The turbo will need porting to realise the potential I agree, however there is another issue with the wastegate size as well, as the hybrid in question is suffering from boost creep. All points to the fact it needs to come off in an ideal world.

If the turbo is willing to come of in situ then maybe.

It's also the aggro of not having a motor all over again, and the missus is getting a bit peaved with giving me lifts all over the shop....

However, I do potentially have a owrkshop to do the work in, so not all bad. Will keep it off my drive also.

Aha, had to use my magnifying glass to see that one. Never seen that before, only thing that crosses my mind is that this small piece of seal ring bent inwards will be extremely hot and with age could lead to pices of the gasket cracking off and into DP as its not under clamping-pressure like its supposed to be. Worst case scene thou.

I'm planning on using a gasket which is available on ebay. I would post a link, however am not allowed... :(

Anyway, it's made of thicker gasket material and is trimable to enlarge the port diameter. Should resolve the issues of the enlarged collector.

How long it will last however is anyone's guess...

Paranoid? Bits of metal gasket coming away due to the heat and then heading through the turbine blades? I wouldn't call that paranoia - it's not going to be a good thing....

I know its not a good thing, moreover my point was will it happen with these ported manifold's and the stock gasket.

Hard to say. They do crack under normal useage, so I would go with yes. Thats the reason I won't be using one personally.
