Okay, having spent hours deciding on getting my alloys finished in black chrome... I've spent even more hours trying to find a place who does that colour!

Has anyone used or even heard of a company called Lap-Tab in the Midlands?

Just wondering what their workmanship is like etc.

Any feedback much appreciated. :)

Thanks.

Someone has mentioned them to me - might have been Yermother that used them to do his LCR wheels black. If it was, they did a good job and a good price.

I have been trying to contact them for months to do my LCR alloys! They seem to be the best priced and can turn the car around in one day. Im looking at exactly the same colour as you as well!

I have sent them 5 emails so far with no reply, called three times (when i actually got through) twice they said they would get back to me with a price and date but never have as yet!

Would be good if you can get any info out of them! As i really wnat mine done that colour and there the only place that will powder coat them that colour (dont want them sprayed)

I've had a reply from their online quote thing...

Refurbish alloy in Black Chrome (18") £50 + VAT Each
Courier Postage (Collect & Return) £60 + VAT (Set of 4 in 2 packages)
Strip & Rebuild (Tyres on/off) £60 + VAT (Set of 4)

That's £376 all in... which is pretty good considering as far as my searches have found, they're the only place that does black chrome??

Other companies in my area want £75 each for a standard colour, and they all say "oh no, you won't get black chrome in this country" :(

Still trying to get through to talk to someone to confirm a few things (want the inside of the wheels done as well) & hopefully make a booking.

I'll keep you all posted with updates :)

Are you going to post the alloys or drive up there? They do a day service, so you drive there in the morning and leave at night all done. According to there website there close to a shopping complex too to get your crimbo shoppen out the way!

Whcih black chrome are you going for? as there seems to be a few varients on there, black chrome, hyper chrome and flash chrome all look very similar.

Must be the dont like me id say!

Might give them another ring.

Did you email direct or fill in the form?
Love the look of them, are they powder coated or sprayed tho?
Filled in the form, got the quote, emailed back to that with a question but no reply yet.

They are flash chrome - not sure how but I think they look cool (on a black MINI BTW)

It's the "black chrome 1" I'm wanting done (4th pic up from the bottom). I don't think they'll look too out of place on a platinum car...

I have relatives up in Solihull so I might go up and make a day of it. I filled in the online form, must have been an "auto reply" that I got back from them, which is why I want to confirm a few things.

Jonny this guy does £30 a wheel same colour refurb (light damage/scuffs) and £50 a wheel incl VAT with a colour change and told me he would do anthracite if that's any good (I realise it's not Chrome) but your looking at £200incl VAT for 4 wheels!

He works in the Bristol area, only ever spoke to him about rates....didn't get any further.

I'll get you his contact details later.

Well, he advises against black chrome cos if they scratch or chip the coating will flake off :( Must be a different process to standard painting or coating

He can do something that will give a similar effect, but if they ever need doing again they won't be able to colour match...

However, he'll do most other standard colours - only £170 for the set! :D I asked about getting the backs done as well and he said he'd do that for no extra cost :)

I do like the black chrome tho... dunno what to do :(

Steve's work is top notch. Seem him work wonders as well.

Why does it have to be black chrome, sounds like your more after an anthracite kind of colour?
