Hello I need a drive-shaft inner CV joint, N/S, for my LCR. TPS is quoting £120+VAT Does anyone know of an alternative? (Euro Car Parts don't have in stock and need part number to order / quote. Anyone know the part number?) Ta
www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk I have only used their CV boot kit which was cheap and still working well. There is differing opinions on their CV Joints
And they also have the GKN version, but both the GKN and Q-Drive are the "Wheel Side" CV, I need the gearbox-side CV - aka inner. But thanks anyway.
as sockpuppet said J&R are good you can get the full driveshaft for £35 or just get the joint you need https://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/seat-leon-1.8-petrol-2004/product/drive-shafts-509/drive-shaft/DS331 not used the driveshafts but have fitted several of their cv joints to different cars
Had a Google and it seems that both J&R and Q-Drive's CV joints have a very mixed reputation: some punters say they last for years, others report vibrations / 'clicking' almost immediately after fitting, which suggests inconsistent build quality. GKN is the manufacturer of the OE-spec CVs sold by TPS / stealers. And the difference in cost - eg, £29+VAT for a J&R driveshaft incl both CVs, whereas one GKN CV joint costs £120+VAT - suggests a case of "if it sounds too good to be true, then...". So, I've ordered a GKN. And after all, my LCR's factory-fit GKN CV joint has lasted 15 years. But thanks for advice folks
