LCR door light problem

Craigus

Black LCR 225
A while ago i noticed that when i opened the drivers door, the courtesy light on the actual door its self would flicker then switch off completely when the door was opened.

Now the light has stopped working full stop in the drivers side, when the doors are opened.

So i thaught ah must be a bulb thats gone, swapped the bulb plugged it back in and nothing, yet all the other doors lights work fine, i thaught it could posibly be a fuse, but then i read the manual and theres one fuse that is for all the interior lights, so the others work fine.

Any one had any bother with this?

Cheers Craig

It will be most likely be the switch in the door lock mechanism, they are prone to fail and the module doesnt turn the interior light on or the door light when you open the door.

Its a little switch all built into the door lock, it sometimes starts off with it flickering and then eventually gives up all together, does your alarm rearm itself after youve opened drivers door after a few minutes?
You can try anr repair switch, sometimes they just stick and need cleaning but a new lock is the other answer and they are fairly expensive

It does exactly that, but only on the drivers door, it locks the car itself after a short time of being open.

Wheres the switch, easy to get too?

Its in the door attached to the carrier panel you got to strip that all out, there are guides here to do it. you will be spending all day doing that.

Last time i checked the lock mechanism was about 90 odd quid from the dealers and if you get them to fit it it will cost a fortune in labour.

Unfortunately not, its a case of door card off including the metal one which all the window mechanism bolts to, then the door lock itself has to be removed from the inside of the door to either repair switch or fit a new lock mechanism.

Reason the alarm rearms itself is as far as car is concerned door has not been opened (even though it has) as switch does not trigger in lock mechanism so module thinks youve just unlocked your car by accident, if you open one of other doors alarm will turn off.

Ha i know always is, trouble is the flipping switch in door lock is too complicated for its own good, you could get a second hand unit but its the time to strip it all down.
