Hello,

Has anybody ordered the LED interior illumination option?

What exactly do you get?

I read somewhere that they light up the front footwell and when you open the door they brighten up then dim down when the doors are shut. Not sure if they are used to light up anywhere else.

Oh, well I don't know then.

People who ordered Audi cars with a pack of the same name (costing £165) got spot lighting in the car (lights in the roof lining that put a dim glow across the dashboard) as well as interior door handle illuminations, and door puddle lights. It then goes on to add glove box, footwell, and vanity mirror lights which I think are standard on the Leon anyway, though perhaps they are upgraded from bulbs to LEDs?

I've got an SE, interior lighting is the footwell lights that are on all of the time the car is unlocked and lighst are on. It also includes the two red LED's in the ceiling casting the glow on the centre console. Currently have an FR (courtesy) that has the door card illumination and they change from white to red when you change the Seat drive profile to sport.

Yer, those are standard as far as I know, however there's now an option for an Interior LED pack for 60 quid which adds something else, we just don't know what.

The £60 LED option is only available on the SC, I think. I asked the SEAT personnel at the Motorexpo in London last week about where these lights would go, and they didn't know. But for £60, you're not going to get much.

You can get the interior LED pack for the 5dr Leon to, it certainly wasn't there on the launch spec but it's on the latest price list on the Seat site.

It does make me laugh that dealers/Seat staff don't know this stuff and that apparently there's no documentation for it. I'm imagining someone on the production line with a handful of LEDs and a dremel randomly sticking them in cubby holes and door trims!

I would have thought it would be quite straight forward.......

All the footwell and entrance/reading lights are normal 501 bulbs (I think, I haven't properly checked yet, some might be festoon's), paying £60 will swap these to LED bulbs instead (A whiter light) and the bulbs should last a hell of a lot longer if not for the life of the vehicle.

OR you could buy replacement LED bulbs off eBay for about £8 all together and change them yourslelf which I am doing to see which I prefer. I will try to post some before and afters when I have done it (Hopefuly in the next week or so).

Just given this a try, sadly the cheap bulbs I have do not want to fit.

It would seem that you need an LED bulb the same shape and size as a normal 501 bulb.

I can get an LED 501 to light up but just doesn't fit snug and secure like a standard 501 bulb.

I will keep looking though (through trial and error) and when I find a successful match I will post links and before and afters.

Thats a shame, I'd be interested in this too. Given how white the headlights are, its a shame to use normal bulbs in the interior.

I may have a little look and see what I can do myself and report back.

I never went for the interior led option because as far as I'm aware it is just led bulbs in place of the standard bulb. I replaced all the interior bulbs in my current A4 for led bulbs but I will be removing them all before I trade it in hoping they will fit my new Leon. I think I'll need to get some more though as the Leon has more lights as standard than the A4!

I am half way through swapping.

I have used 4 3xLED SMD 37mm festoons for the front sun visor lights and back passenger lights.

Changed the footwell lights for some xenon look normal 501 bulbs as I could not get a decent LED one to fit.

Last thong I need to do now is change the passenger map lights for some 5xLED SMD bulbs but can't for the life of me see how to get into the to replace them (I have the sunroof controls).

Anyone have any ideas?

I've ordered the Interior LED Pack too - the dealer showed me the official description of it on SEAT's dealer-only site.

Apart from replacing the interior lights with LED's, it apparently adds some additional ambient footwell lighting.

Can't really expect too much for £60 I guess!
