LED's finally fitted.

I think I went for the six-LED bulb. They don't seem to give any odd behaviour, and the same seems to be true for the tailgate tail lights.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'll go for the 6-LED set and see how it goes, with the lifespan of the LED's it makes me feel better than I shouldn't have to change them again for another 100,000 hours

But I really like the sidelights in that pic (looks like Xenons)

I wouldnt take the life of LED sidelights for granted - ive had 3 of those exact ones die on me now. The first two i thought it was because they were 'brand new' - hotwever the 'uprated 14v' versions have also buggered - not a happy puppy!

Basically they start flickering after about 2-3mins of use - maybe its because theyre the near the main bulbs...?

This has happened on 2 separate Ibizas so ive given up on them now - hope others have more luck!

Yes LEDs should not be placed within 3" of a Main Headlamp Bulb unless tit is within its on section or partition/shielded of the main lamps.

I have these fitted in my Leon they are very bright only a slight tint of blue, but are far better than most LEDs

Interesting. Which type of headlight do you have - are they the single bulb type or the twin dipped and main-beam bulbs?

I haven't looked at the single-bulb headlights, but on my FR (with the twin lights) the sidelight is housed inside a glass tube - imagine a small jam-jar and you're pretty close. The sidelight bulbs are therefore shielded from the heat of the halogens fairly well, and I haven't noticed any flickering problems.

If yours are the single headlights, perhaps we've identified that LED sidelights can't be used in those light units?

mine are single units, and as you say, sides are seggregated in their own enclosure

Sorry mate but ive had both! My 1.2 had single and my Sport has twin reflectors (H3, H7).

Both had the plastic surrounds so i cant see it being a heat problem, i think it could be just an in-tolerance to the ~14v that alternators produce when the car is running. Either way they look very cool, but if you get them working past 2 months your lucky...
