To be honest brad it won't be not if he's wanted to make it look the same. i.e White. A respray on the new car with send the bill right up.

I would have thought. Plus looks like that car is pretty spot on style wise with a lot of effort gone in.

Good luck with the conversion mate!

Your need a engine be it From a golf leon audi but seeing you want to do a conversion I would go with the amk/bam lump 210/225 bhp , you will also need new brakes all round brembos big disks calipers at the rear , then ecu ignition if your pretty handy doing things then you could do it your self I recon 3k sounds in the right region poss more as it won't be just the engine your swapping , then your insurance will be dearer to insure than a normal 1.8t , in the hind sight in actually will be cheaper to buy a 1.8t then get a paint job

I've done conversion on my mk2 1.6 to 2.0T and it's not worth it... There so much stuff involved like setting up electrics upgrading driveshafts etc. A LOT OF MONEY went there, but it may not be as bad on mk2 as apparently 2.0T is much complicated from electric point of view. If you go for ir good luck :)

sorry everyone dont think i really explained myself lol

ill tell you where im at....

i bought a 1.8t cupra complete leon with so i have everything i need?.....got the engine ecu brakes etc etc

i have stripped the insides out of both and the engine is now out of the 1.6....

next i plan to have the wiring loom outs out and replace the 1.8t loom in the 1.6 shell.....

i am pretty sure the engine and inside loom is all 1 loom and doesnt split????

also wondered if there is anything i should particularly look out for?..

as my car is exactly how i want it stylewise i figured putting the engine in would be next so ye thanks ben u got it in 1! :)

also now i got the whole car i can break it for spares and make a bit of money back....

really jus wondered if anyone has done it as would be good to know what problems occured and anything i should know?

thanks guys :D

do you have key from that car as well ? coz you probably will needed it. Again I'm not 100% sure if it's the same as in mk2 (probably isn't) but if you got a doner car with loom, brakes, suspension etc you'll be fine. Just need a proper place to fit it for you :) Electrics were main problem in my car (getting around immobiliser and get it started :D)

no, my parts came out of stolen-recovered car and they didn't have the keys. Are you gonna do it yourself ? if so, best to call someone like jbs or bdm who done a lot of conversions and make sure there won't be problems with starting it like with mine. ECU is different so will probably need resetting.

Am sure its so much easyer to brake the 1.6 as its worth miles less than the cupra

If you do the conversion yes it will be a rare thing but also worthless, why not just put a white vinal wrap on the turbo one , job done . seams a lot of hard work for no reason if you ask me

For some it's not about losing money, it's about having something special, when I called around about fitting my conversion none of about 10 places done it on this car, so I'm pretty sure it's one off. Obviously from money point of view it's very bad decision but if he wants to keep the car for another few years he won't lose that much.

Yep totaly understand, id just prefer to buy say a 5k car and run it a few years then sell it for similar.

A good point was i baught an escort cosworth years ago, paid 12k for it then sold it for 13k 3years later, yes there obviously a different thing alltogether. A customer came at the same time i got it with a mk5 rs2000 and he wanted a cosworth kit fitting, it ended up with different bumpers full interior trim, engine upgrade, put stereo in it, suspension brakes full paint job in a different colour etc etc, he ended up spending 15k on it over the space of 2years.
Granted he loved it but to this day he still has it (7years on) and has tryed selling it on more than one ocation but carnt.

I do apolagise my rant and hope i havent offended anyone.
