Spec updates towards the end of a model’s life cycle aren’t unusual - helps to maintain customer interest. VW have done this in the past by including options (e.g. leather seats) within a model’s standard spec that would normally cost extra, without increasing the list price of the car.This was the reply I got from London main dealer
