    Hello Bill

Can you give me a price for front disc's and pad's for a 2004 Leon Cupra R .
I'd prefer Ds2500 pads but I'll leave disc choice to you.
Is there much difference in performance and price between plain, drilled, groved or combi disc's ???

    Thanks
    Darren

Sorry to hijack the thread, but do you do those in 312mm for the MK4 Cupra? Also what's the difference between the Brembo and EBC discs?

i prefer the eliptically grooved ones, but its just preference, not a better than the other, both do the job. quieter running is the differentiator in the main, not braking performance.

Brilliant, so the price for the eliptically grooved discs for my LCR are £194.35 + £9.50 postage which comes to a grand total of £203.85 for the pair.

    Thats right yea???

Just the discs will do, the £185 items with the eliptical grooves.

    How do you prefer payment???

Wont be till friday as thats when I next get paid

Also do you know how much pad life is left once the warning light is on or is it a case of kinda guessing???

friday is fine.. cc/debit card or paypal (subject to +5%)
    bell me on 07976 800775

pad life is best guess.. only one of the 4 pads has the sensor, but it will be down to 1 to 2mm max.. take it very steady

I'd take it easy if your warning light is on... mine didn't come on at all, yet when the pads were changed, one pad was right down to the backing plate, two had about 0.5mm of friction material left and the one with the wear sensor had about 1mm friction material left

On a positive note though, not only do the DS2500 pads offer much better braking performance over the stock pads, they last a fair bit longer too :)

I changed mine a few weeks ago and was quite suprised to see the old DS2500 pads still had a good 4mm of friction material left... they were originally fitted by Bill about 18 months / 14k miles ago and I guess they still had about 5k left in them. As a comparison, I went through 2 sets of stock pads, each only lasted about 10k miles until they were worn out, as described above.

One other thing with the eliptically grooved discs, although the grooves are a good visual wear indicator (new disc = 28mm thick, min thickness = 26mm, groove is machined 1mm deep either side), check the inside of the discs rather than the outside. The groove on the outside of mine looked good with about 0.5mm depth, but the inside was worn down to a faint line where the groove once was.

the inners wearing faster is normal on these cars, i guess to do with airflow being less there so run hotter wear faster etc
