Leon demands hi intensity rear lights switched off?

Sunday morning in foggy conditions I used the hi intensity rear lights for the first time and needed them.
I kept getting messages and a warning tone telling me turn them off.
What triggers this? Is there a sensor? It was still very foggy? Is this a normal trait?
Very annoying.

Ha ha YES what are we like.

Went for a 'HOT' run through the Cotswolds at 7 am Sunday to get some miles on and run the car in.
I was down to 30mph a few times worst I have seen for a while. No one else about.
Kept getting the same warning.
It happened at soon as I went over 42 MPH also affected by the ambient light too as occasionally we went into bright sun too.

In Germany, this is the position regarding fog lights;

Lights
Dipped headlights must be used in poor daytime visibility. Motorcycles must use dipped headlights during the day at all times.

Fog lights are required for driving at night and day with fog and mist, strong rain or snow. With a visual range of less than 50m through fog, rain or snow, fog lights have to be switched on and a speed limit of 50kph applies to all vehicles.

So maybe a variation of this has been programmed into the car with a higher (than 50kph / 31mph) speed trigger for the UK - i.e. if the rear fog lights are switched on and a certain predetermined speed is exceeded, then the car’s ‘brain’ assumes it’s no longer foggy as the predetermined speed is being exceeded, so prompts you to turn off the rear fog lights. Is the car also clever enough to prompt you to switch off the rear fogs in bright sunlight like @Polly experienced? Maybe it is............perhaps it’s a function of the auto lights sensor when the rear fog lights are on.

That makes sense, since I got it on the motorway with thick fog and I was really driving on the limits of the safe speed for that available visibility, which was over that speed threshold you mentioned.

@Jaco2k do you have a function called Nebelschlusslicht Warngeschwindigkeit ( Rear Fog warning speed)
in control unit 09

I checked this out on a 2018 model and its set to 60km not sure if this is the warning you are talking about.
