Hi all,

New to the page so i'm hoping you can help me with my first post!

Recently just got an FR and want to do a little bit of work to it both cosmetic and performance wise.

I'm interested in upgrading the stock spoiler and exhaust to make it look and sound a little more aggressive without it being stupid.. also getting a bit more out of the 1.4 engine

Have you got any suggestions? What would you recommend? Appreciate any help and advice!

Thanks

There's a number of things you can do, the limit is you're wallet really!

Exhaust wise, silencer deletes add grumble. If you're not into yobbish sound levels then a centre res delete would add a little extra burble. A rear delete will add even more, both deleted is loud. I know because I have both delete!

For performance really a remap is what you'll need, you can get induction kits for these that have the sdded benefit of adding some intake noise to, although they don't do an awfu lot for performance.

Visually the sky's the limit really. Just look around and see what others have do for ideas.

From what you've said I think centre res delete would be ideal, is this a relatively easy and cheap thing to do? I really am new to all this..
I did have a look for some intake kits, i'd be more interested in the sound rather than if they really do anything but couldn't seem to find any? There was a forge sport one but wasn't sure if it would fit as it was saying for 2015+ models whereas mine's 2014

The centre delete is really easy and relatively cheap. I got mine for £65 posted. Took around 15 minutes to cut the exhaust and fit it in place.

Their are a couple of kits out there. I have a MST kit on mine. They have a couple of different ones on eBay for different year models. They also claim it will add upto 9bhp.

Hi and welcome

I was bizarrely going to create a post asking the same questions as you have.. so i was pleased when i read yours haha.

I've also got a 15 plate 1.4 TSI FR.

I was wondering if you found a spoiler that fits? I'm seeing very mixed reviews saying this fits, this doesn't and so on.

Also did you upgrade the exhaust? Another thing i'm also interested in is making it rumble a bit but not too much

Simple fix would be as the rest mentioned a res delete.
If you want to go the full way, alternatively you could go for a new exhaust kit with either non-resonated (I think this is the louder one) or fully resonate (quieter one). Most known exhaust manufactuers would have a replacement kit which is the dual left size exhaust (Miltek, Remus, Supersprint etc) as like the standard Leon exhaust. Some even have flaps so you can select the sound modes. However depending on yoru wallet, some exhausts also come with twin exit (one exhaust each side). Me personally I think this looks better, you may however need to get a new diffuser thing below the bumper, or get the Leon's Sports styling kit bumper....do I think quad exhaust set up is an overkill? I would say yes, because when a true quad exhaust car comes next to you at the lights and want to traffic light drag race (eg...Cupra R ST, BMW M2/M3/M4, Audi S3, Golf R), that's when you know it's all show and no go. But it's still better than the fake exhausts many cars come with these days!

Yeah I agree, the twin exhaust pipes look wicked. I will have to look at some online, although I’m pretty sure my rear bumper would have to be swapped over for the one with the twin pipe cut out. Mine is just on the left side of the car, looks okay but I like symmetry

If yours is pre-facelift, with the part under the bumper in body paint colour, you probably would need a new rear bumper. If yours is facelift where the bottom part is black, I believe you can remove that part and replace with just a new rear diffuser. However I have seen pics of early MK3 FR rears which have just the lower part replaced... such as here: https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/mk3-leon-fr-diffuser.431650/

Ooh time to clean the exhausts with soappy water and autosol metal polish :)... Others may have ideas.....

Not sure if these are just stuck over the original bumper or needs some cutting / drilling etc...but it says 'extension' so maybe it's just glue/screw on...

I would assume you're right, probably just stuck on. Although you know what people say about assumptions.. ha.

Also as for cleaning my exhaust, it definitely needs it i know, only owned the car for three weeks so it's due a clean!

Also also, a couple of those diffusers are for the facelift model :(

Thanks for your post though!

I just purchased these for the pre-facelift.. i actually prefer the look instead of fully black lettering and badge
Agreed, I've just put gloss black ones on my pre-facelift. I think the chrome outline helps make the badges more distinct and stand out more, especially on the front grill, the badge being all black without the chrome outline makes it quite hard to see imo
