Hi I am just wondering if anyone knows the limit of the fr170 turbo it's a 2012 model. I have been speaking to darkside developments and they say dpf delete exhaust system intake and custom map should only see 200bhp due to the turbo.

load of ****. All of that will see you as high as 220 on a very hard tune with loads of smoke.
At the flywheel that is

See I was expecting around 230 with that. Would smoke be bad though? It's my everyday car.

That's no use. Seem a lot of work and money for little gains. Especially on it being my everyday car. I am building something else which is much quicker but it will just be a weekend summer toy.

Don't be fooled by HP. 330-340lb/ft of torque is pretty hefty. In-gear acceleration was much harder on my CR170 than it is on my R
But yes, if you want a properly powerful diesel, get a BMW 330d or 335d and get it remapped :) Then you're laughing.

No love the leon as it is just expected more with dpf full exhaust intake and custom map. Expected around 200 with a map just.

Oh for sure. A DTUK tuning box will take it up to 205-210 easy with DPF intact. Very good reviews on those. Performance almost identical to custom map.
Intake: diesels generally take in more air than they need to anyway, so very little gains to be had here. A bit of low-down torque (as if that's a prob in a remapped diesel)

Exhaust: DPF is the main blocker. The rest will also just give you a bit more response, but not massive power gains

Bigger intercooler: unconfirmed but I believe this would make more of a difference than an intake system

Custom map: the CR170 has limitations in having to remove the ECU to remap, and the MAP sensor is limited quite low. So you can't push it much harder on boost until the max threshold is reached as the ECU pulls back requested boost. Right pain in the hoop.

There are CR kits available. Some guys in the USA have played around with some properly custom parts to fit a bigger turbo. Darkside have also played with a CR140 I believe. Not worth the cash IMO

And of course, with a very aggressive tune, you may be looking at some very dangerous exhaust temperatures (>900) which will be the beginning of the end for your engine.

If you want serious tuning, you'd be better off with a n older PD170 and get someone who really knows their stuff to tune it

I'm not guru mind. But I had a lovely CR170 and after it was de-DPFed and remapped, I realised there was little else to do to it that was worth the money.
Then the DPF MOT law came in, so decided that was enough and traded it in for a CupraR :D

As for Japs...I've got a lovely Toyota MR2 Roadster that sucks money away from my CupraR projects :D

Think my next car will be a cupra r. Won't be for a while. I've had a couple gt4's rx7 pulsar gtir. Now building a classic mini with 200sx engine and running gear.
