Leon Leak

Hi all,
2010 Leon 1.6 Ecomotive 5dr.

The car is damp inside despite using moisture absorbing boxes. The windscreen is absolutely soaking and when it's icy outside it's also thick ice on the inside. So water must be getting in somewhere, but I can't see where.

If I wash it, I don't see any water on the seals or getting in. Carpet doesn't seem wet.

Any idea how I can tell where the water is coming in? Saw Edd on wheeler dealers with a smoke machine device that was great as it immediately showed him which seal had failed.

Any tips welcome

When was the cabin filter last replaced as well?

The answer is - blowing in the wind. Or not as the case may be!
Is this a DIY job?

Oh and my under bonnet insulation is wet and mouldy so definitely need to do something about water ingress through the scuttle

Hi guys

Jumping on this thread, but I have exactly the same problem drives me insane in the morning.

move tried everywhere seals all good pollen filter good, but my bonnet lining is also soaking wet and moody.

where does the Leon intake the ventilation air from can the Bonet insulation really effect this.

Spent a while under the bonnet this weekend. Took the wet liner off and it was wet (actually frozen!) behind on the metal so I also have this problem. At this stage I don't know if I've got the "well known" drainage problem under the bonnet that makes the engine bay wet AND a leak into the cabin as well, or if this is all connected.

Think I will have to try this

This week I took the lower scuttle off by the windscreen it was full of leaves debris and muck underneath. so removed all that the panel that feeds the ventilation was removed and found the seal soaking wet and the foam strip inside the sash was soaking so I dried all this off.

fingers crossed it does something.

but think I’ll try the liner this week

Was it easy to take off? Did you follow some instructions? I want to do this too.
FYI taking the liner off is a 1 min unclip job, just squeeze the clips inwards

Ye wasn’t too bad at all just fiddly, I kind of worked it out. First you have to take the wipers off one of them counter clockwise screw. the scuttle is the hardest part to get off its clipped into the base of the windscreen just pull it straight up away from the windscreen it is really right. so just start from the edge and work your way across.I took the right hand wiper motor off and you see the ventilation panel mines was full of leaves etc was quite blocked. Air flow was a lot better after this.

i did find the seal and the foam inside was wet but the pollen filter was bone dry so I don’t think this was the source.

going to try the bonnet insulation but I got a feeling my water source is in down through the door cards

the search continues
