Daughter had her mum’s mk111 Leon yesterday and when she brought it back she remarked how it was when using the central locking, she has our older mk11, I had thought it loud too but not comparing it to anything else just ignored it, any one noticed this?

She had ours whilst I got the timing belt etc replaced, mate did it last night, sub 2 hour job-even with me helping?- £220 all in using oe belt kit and water pump, so where do Seat get their prices?

Off topic (apologies) as far as noisy central locking goes, but picking up on the point of Seat pricing - Dealer prices on the face of it probably do seem excessive, but they will need to cover staff wages and overheads (rent, utilities insurance etc.), plus their profit margin in their prices.

I’m not defending the prices they charge, nor am I affiliated to Seat in any way, but their dealers, like any other business needs to cover its outgoings and make a profit in order to survive.

Mmm, Ex motor trade me so I understand pricing but, Seat did say it would be £500 +vat, so 3 hours being generous, @ £70 plus parts @ £160 is only £370 + vat. Is that not taking the mickey?

Mickey taking or not, if people are prepared to pay those prices, then they’ll continue to charge them.

Well if it is it is lot more than we charged at Kia earlier this year, I’ll call and ask them just out of interest.

My £100+ hourly rate was based on what I got charged for Tech time almost 2 years ago at a SEAT main dealer, so it should be nearer £125+ now I'd think - remember that is Tech time, lower rated tasks can be carried out by lower paid/rated operators.

I'm not sure what any of my local VAG Indies hourly rate is, I'd guess £75+.

The locks do make a bit of a clunk. Louder than a Golf for some reason. The thing to watch for is that the doors all do actually lock! One of the back doors on my Ibiza did not lock. I only found this out by accident when I open the door and the alarm went off. The rest of the doors were locked and alarm set. Who knew one of the doors wasn't locking, not the car. Got it fixed under warranty but could've been like that for years without me knowing.

At Kia we charged the same rate regardless of master tech or standard tech doing a job, never heard of different rates before, sure Honda have never charged me a premium either.

Where I used to work we charged the same hourly rate for everyone in the workshop regardless.
As for the central locking mine also makes a reassuringly loud clonk.
