Hi Everyone, I am looking to rejoin the Leon club and ideally I am looking for a Petrol FR with a manual gearbox, but I might also consider a Cupra if the price was right.

I am located in Oxfordshire but would be willing to travel a reasonable distance as these cars seem to be quite rare in my area.

If anyone wishes to part with one please let me know.

    Many thanks,
    Simon.

@Jimbobcook was looking at selling his Mk2 CUPRA R. Not sure if he still is but it’s a beaut of a car in Speed Blue.

Thank you, a Cupra R might be out of my Price range.

I just noticed the wanted area, and this thread might have been better in there. I do apologise and Mods feel free to move.

Great name you have there lol no bias here...

I do have an R for sale indeed but due to mileage (50k) it's going for about £10,500 which isn't to everyone's price range.

I can move this to the wanted section no worries. Let me know if it's something you want pics for... I'd be happy to let you have a look as I'll probably pass Oxford area when I go to the next forum meet on the 1st lol

Hope you find what you're after if not :)

    Cheers

That’s offensive for your car. I’m guessing you didn’t sell it then.

Still looking at a Mk3 CUPRA or thinking towards a Mk4 now?

It does sound like a nice car, but that is out of my price range. Due to looking to buy a house in the near future the budget is limited so I am probably looking to get an FR.

My current car is a BMW120d and whilst its a good car it just isn't a petrol... :)

I went to see a car yesterday as it was very local to me.
2007 FR with 100k on the clock and up for sale at £2750
Couldn't see any rust in the usual places but a couple of things put me off, the main the main thing being the seller.
The advert said the sale was to fund a newer car. He said there was nothing wrong with the car (to be expected), he also said that he didn't want to sell it and that he didn't know what to replace it with...
I read into that in a bad way especially as he drove when we went out in the car. Maybe there was an issue he was trying to hide and that was why he was selling...
I could also tell that the car needed a new thermostat (running at 75ºC maximum), one of the wheels was badly kerbed and it had budget tyres on it. He also said that all he had done to the car in the last 3 years was get the oil changed and have the cambelt done.

The MOT history flagged up as soon to be needing 2 rear dampers.

So I decided against it, epecially as my current car doesn't have too much wrong with it.

Sounds like you made a good choice there bud. Doesn't seem like too much of a genuine person - I'm hoping oil change was atleast annually in the 3 years not just once!

I am not sure, he did say that he didn't do many miles so if it was done on mileage then it could have only been done once.
The brake discs were in need of replacement, the headlights had been badly refurbished and it had a cone airfilter on it which looked very dirty.
I think he was selling as it was coming up for some major expense.
I will hang onto my BMW 120d for a while longer I think as it is pristine in comparison. Lol

I think you're right, but the expense sounds like it's due to negligence. The right one will come along!

I waited a year to find mine...

I am pretty sure you are right, you cannot just do the bare minimum to a car and expect it to carry on forever, as before long it will backfire and land you with a large bill.
I also consider budget tyres as a bit of a red flag when looking at a car that isn't a shopping trolley. If you can skimp on the only thing keeping the car on the road what else has been skimped on?

I am not in a massive rush, there is nothing really wrong with the current car other than the fact I do shortish trips and its a Diesel.

Cheers mate, the search continues. The added bonus is that the longer I wait the more money I can save and hopefully get a better one. :)
